Need Help! New to HTIB!

Just my personal opinion here but I would second guess on buying the LG/Sm or sony listed. The main problem with those are you can not upgrade the speakers if you want in the future and if the unit goes bad... say the BD stops or has problems you pretty much have to toss the whole unit and start over. Not to mention the ones I have listened to leave a sound less desired as to where you can get a MUCh better sound out of an Onkyo or Dennon set up. Now remeber, this is just my opinion as to others have thiers so just take it with a grain of salt per say.

Abpout wireless speakers.... its a nice concept but they have to have a power source you have to take into fact that you have to plug them in, not to mention I am not sold on them as they may lack in performance. Just me anyhow

Skally, thanks for those links! I've been considering getting a HTiB because the price is right where I'm looking to spend. I knew that getting separate items (receiver and speakers/sub) was the better way to go in terms of quality though.
I really like the pioneer 820 that you posted. It has all of the features I'm looking for (multiple HDMI inputs supporting 1.4a, the newest decoders) and the reviews on amazon.com are very positive.

I have a question about the speakers though since I'm a noob when it comes to this. I'm looking at the 2 sets of Polk speakers you posted, but I was wondering what the difference is between them besides the $35 price difference? I see that both of their original prices are $599.99, but the 6750s are cheaper than the 705s now. Could you try and explain the differences between the 2? The room I'll be setting these up in is about 22'x24' and I'll be mainly using it for playing games (xbox360), watching BD, and Fios HDTV.

Well to straight foward I would go with the 6750s over the 705's at the moment, just depends on what "sales" are at the time as they seem to have a better salew on the 6705. Not to mention I would pick the 6750's as they have a little bit larger driver as well. As far as differnace goes I have herd the 6750's set up to where they wernt to bad at all but I have not herd the 705's. I just posted those as they were an alternitive to look at.

If it were me... I would look into the Onkyo set!! I do realize there would be 2 extra speakers that you would not need I have a have had those before in my first set up. The sound stage was quite well as the sub is better on the Onkyo vs the Polks too. The Mid drivers are larger so the sound stage will fill a room better as you mentioned you have a 22x 24. Just a note hear... with a room that size you may want to look into towers if you can or want them... just depends on what you are going for is all.

Take a good at the Onkyo line as I think it would suite you a bit better given the room size.! Not to mention I see that they are even a lower price now.

First of all, Sorry Nova03 for trying to piggyback on your thread. I wasn't able to start a separate thread as I need to have 3 posts before that.I am just starting out in terms of building a good home theater. My budget is less than $500for speakers and less than $500 for A/V recievers. After reading various online reviews, I was thinking of getting the Energy Take Classic(5.1) speaker systems and Denon AVR-1611 A/V receivers.

Should I stick with Denon AVR-1611 or go for Onkyo TX SR-608?
My second doubt is that, I have read good reviews of Energy Take Classic speaker systems in many places like audioholics, cnet,avsforum. But, it was released a couple of years back. Is there a similar type of speaker systems out there, that offers the same value for money??
