This is assuming you can afford a Blu-Ray Player(who can't these days?!? they're dirt cheap)

Here's what you do:

1. Rent/Buy, via your fav vendor, the somewhat new release of the Bruce Willis Movie "RED"

2. Scroll to the time-stamp 4:05 and play through 4:28 or so.

3. This is a classic pan that'll display big-time artifacts if your TV and/or Blu-Ray players aren't set-up properly.

4. If it's a smooth pan experience, then good news your player and TV are synced up for a perfect movie viewing experience.

5. If not, then toggle a few things off, 1-at-a-time, until you get the smooth panning effect. If nothing seems to work
, then post your TV & Blu-Ray specs here & maybe the videophiles that frequent here can make some suggestions that'll make you a happy movie watcher.

After all, you paid the big bucks for your TV & hopefully not too much on that Blu-Ray(unless of course you bought the sweet BDP-93 Oppo
) why should you have to put up with artifacts/judder?!?

This could work for your Plasma too.............Wasn't sure what forum to post this one on.

And if anyone else has a classic movie benchmark that'll work like the time-stamp i mentioned from Red, then please post it here as well.

Wow so you're offering to help? That's awesome! Btw, i have a Sony KDL-EX520 32inch led tv. I am planning on to buy a PS3 for blu ray movie playback (and some games probably). Is there going to be that judder in this combination of tv and player?

Please let me know. Thanks.

Is this the scene where the camera pans across one (or more) large office buildings?

If so, that is indeed a good test....

Hello,

I have the following setup:

Display:

Sony 40BX420 (Full HD)

HTPC:

Pentium D 3.2 Ghz

2 GB DDR2 RAM @ 800 Mhz

GigaByte Geforce 210 with 1 GB memory inserted at PCI-Express 1.1 x16

Ubuntu 10.04 and XBMC 11.0

Movie:

Pirates of Caribbean full HD @ 24 fps in AVC format.

I have not tested your suggested movie but I will for sure.

The problem is that when camera pans, its not smooth at all. The screen judders and its really unpleasant to look at.

I have tried every setting in my movie player and my TV but nothing seems to correct the problem. I also have tried to play the same video on Windows XP as well but result is the same. I have even tried to reduce the screen refresh rate to 24 hz but of no avail.

Can you please suggest me where my system might be lagging? I've tired making configurations n changing settings

I have even tried to play a 30 fps matroska format but the judder remains the same.

Thanks,
