PS3 a worthy 3d player?

So I am about to buy my first tv and was thinking of grabbing a PS3 slim as wel. Is the PS3 a good 3d player? Im not worried about lossless or any of that as I am in an apartment with no surround sound, though I may grab a sound bar

If you are not going to play games just grab a Panasonic player for $100~ or so with Avatar free.
