Dear friends, many peoples asked me privately to help disassembly. It is not easy to start and remove top cover, here is a schematic sketch for you, hope helps.

Hi Tataniko, how do you compare Acer k330 to LG PA70G? Is there any big difference in picture quality? I ask you this because I love the reviews on PA70G, but still no local distributor yet.. Whereas the Acer K330, I can buy it locally here in my country. Thanks

I hope not.
This is the best place I have found to get info about my k330.
I would gladly answer your question if I also had the other projector but I do not wink.gif.

Hello evrybody.

First of all first of all, I wish you an happy new year.

Second, sorry for my poor english.

I read a lot of time this thread, but I didn't found a solution to my problem:

I have the K330 from 1 year (always very proud of him !), and now I would like to try 3D with my computer (nvidia powered).
So I bought dlp link glasses which work fine with stereoscopic player at 1024x768x120Hz.

And I try with native resolution and 1280x720. So, I create a custom mode in nvidia control panel which work perfectly on the desktop, and when I play a video with stereoscopic player in a windows: beamer keep native resolution at 120Hz and perform the dlp link : glasses activated.

BUT

When I try to put the video in full screen with stereoscopic player, it didn't work: the acer come back to 60Hz and print: "Input not supported under 3d mode" - No DLP link.
But, with MPC-HC, in full screen with native resolution at 120Hz : no problem 120Hz kept (but no 3D, MPC don't manage it, or I don't know how to do).

So my question is: how to manage 3D with mkv in native resolution at 120Hz. Because in 1024x768 is good, but in 1280x800 it should be great.

In advance thank you.

To allow 1280x720 120 Hz 3D with Nvidia hardware, Nvidia drivers must believe that your projector is 3Dvision certified.
To do that with the Acer K330 (and other not 3DVision certified projectors), you have to use a ".inf" file that contains information from a 3DVision certified projector (one that can do 1280x720 120 Hz 3d or more).
Here is a link to a post where I described the method I used with a ".inf" file:
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1344147/acer-k330-led-1280x800/810#post_22471490
Then you have a post by Colmania, about how to do a working 1280x720 120hz 3D custom resolution for a Viewsonic pled-w500 (a clone of the K330) :
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1344151/viewsonic-pled-w500-led-1280x800/240#post_22020043
(As noted by DonBrutto, you need to resize the 201.bmp to the same size as the original.)

Rugrash posted a inf file for higher 3d resolutions (I have not tested it yet):
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1344151/viewsonic-pled-w500-led-1280x800/270#post_22750402
Colmania also posted a new method to do custom resolutions 3D a few days ago but I did not test it yet:
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1344151/viewsonic-pled-w500-led-1280x800/270#post_22791252

Good luck, have fun and let us know if every thing works fine with your K330.

Thank-you very much for your answer, now it's a little bit late for today, but as soon as I tried it I keep you inform of the result.

Just one thing about that:

I understand that is applicable in order to use nvidia 3D vision kit, but for dlp link too ?

Thank-you.

Yes, this is also applicable for 3D DLP link projectors, like the K330 .

No worries. wink.gif

Sorry, I removed the .inf file I made for Nvidia. It turns out that the EDID that I got off of the internet did not contain the proper information to activate 3D Vision.

You need to perform an EDID override using an inf file that has the extension block flag set to 0(zero).

Otherwise any information in the extension block, takes precedence over custom resolutions.

The problem is most likely that the video player sees in the EDID extension that your 1280x720 resolution has a max limit of 60Hz.

If the manufacturer released an updated EDID version via windows update, then even if there is not a flag in the override, windows will act as if there is.

Rugrash,

Not sure if this .inf will help you (or anyone else here) but here is one we used with Nvidia gpu's back when the Epson 3010 was released in order for 3D Vision to see the 3010 as 3D Vision capable.

We used it via HDMI and it worked great but not sure if it will be of any use for these units... NVIDIA-UN-3DTV.zip 1k .zip file

This not my file, I take no credit for creating it nor responsibility for its use. wink.gif

Yah that file is for HDMI 1.4 Displays using side by side or over and under.

Try this one, it's for a VGA connection. Acer H5360 analog 1280 720 120 native.zip 1k .zip file

I updated the native resolution to report 1280x720@120Hz which is 16:9 and what you want for movies.

It still has the H5360 color profile, but should work ok. I have one with an updated color profile for my PLED-W500, but it's on another computer.

For games using Nvidia, the display must be spoofed to show it as supported. For file playback, it is not necessary. but some playback software will only enable 3D in a "fullscreen" at "native resolution".

alt+enter are fullscreen hotkeys in windows.
Actually that file was for using frame packed 3D content, not OU or SBS, it worked great with games and blu-ray. wink.gif

Will give your new custom one a try, thanks!

The inf file I posted is the one from your post #1349 in the LAP0G thread
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1405666/lg-pa70g-led-1280x800-700-lumens/1320

I just changed the native resolution from 1280x720@60Hz to 120Hz and nothing else. Hoping it would work for DedeLeBucheron

Any additional resolutions would need to be added by using custom resolutions, sice it is a HDMI 1.3 EDID without extension data.

Hello everybody!!

I bought 2 weeks ago this fantastic projector, and i'm happy but i don't find the good .inf for 3dvision with hdmi. I tried "Acer H5360 analog 1280 720 120 native" , it work but i have always the red message:

"attempt to run stereoscopic 3d in a non-stereo display mode"

Can you resolve my problem please?

thanks in avdance and sorry for my english .

There's a few posts on the PLED-W500 forum about removing the warning.

One is to use PE explorer to edit the nvsters.dll
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1344151/viewsonic-pled-w500-led-1280x800/240#post_22020043

Then the same poster refers to another method that does not require PE explorer.
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1344151/viewsonic-pled-w500-led-1280x800/270#post_22791252

If you set your resolution to 1024x768@120Hz there is no warning.
ok thanks for your answer . in fact i wanted 3d with the resolution 720p , but now it works thanks to Pe Explorer.
You should post the altered nvstres dll that you created here.

So others can just swap it out with theirs, and not have to bother with PE explorer.

You can also create 1366x728@120Hz and 1280x800@120Hz resolutions and game in them as well now.
Also if you have Nvidia glasses, you can use other resolutions like 1920x1080 at 25/30 per eye.

You can use DLP Link glasses if you have good graphic cards and can keep the framerate high.

Or you can downsample.

BTW. Do not mention this anywhere or Nvidia might disable custom resolutions.

i've started getting the hdmi drop out a little more often, but it seems it only drops on certain players. any player that can "auto-sense" resolution have the drop out. on devices that play at a fixed resolution (tablet hdmi) or at a res that i can set (a pc) i get no drop outs. google tv, samsung bd player, wd live tv and roku all have drop outs. but the pc and tablet have none. this is with using the same hdmi cable on all the devices.

i had noticed that when i first got drop outs on the bd player. it would drop then reconnect at some weird resolution, then drop and reconnect at the correct. the sony google tv would show that the reconnects would be at 1080p, even though i have it set at 720p.

has anyone else noticed this? or was i just having better luck with the tablet and pc?
I too had HDMI drop out issues..but surprisingly from just one player... tried out various options including providing a stable input. but finally got success with setting a fixed resolution for hdmi instead of auto scanning for HDMI resolution..now for weeks not having any drop outs...hope it will work

Hello,

i'm brand new to the community and have an issue that with my efforts is thus far unresolved; it looks like this is the best place to voice my question, extensive Google searches and the official Acer site didn't yield what I'm trying to figure out..

My K330 is (hopefully temporarily) without it's remote.. I'm able to navigate to the video title that I'd like to view, but cannot access it given the controls on top of the unit.. am I for lack of a better term SOL, or is there a bypass of sorts minus the remote?

Any input would help tremendously; and if there is a replacement cost for the remote, I haven't been able to find it via Acer's site.. any thoughts?
jelo,

You can buy an inexpensive Logitech Harmony remote and download the ACER K330 profile into it, it is listed in their database.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the prompt response.
I just ordered a ACER K330. It should be here next week. smile.gif

I'm in the process now of buying a projector mount and screen. I already bought a mount.. but choosing a the right size screen isn't that easy without having the projector. I'd like to go 120" ... i'm not sure the Acer can do it though without going out of focus. Should I play it safe and get a 100" screen? Thinking about getting a motorize 1.1 gain screen off ebay.

Also, do 10 feet distance from screen equals 100 inch image with the ACER K330?

Is this when you're navigating media items from an SD card or the like? I had trouble with this too at first, until I realized that the you have to press different buttons on the unit versus on the remote, and the buttons are different on each menu. It's confusing for sure.

When you're on the main menu, you use "<" and ">" to choose "videos", and press "e" to select it. This brings up the directory listing. Then you use "^" and "v" to choose the video. (You got this far I think.) But then to play you hit ">". Is that the magic button you're looking for, or am I talking about something completely different?

Good luck!

I stumbled upon this website a while ago: http://www.acerparts.com/Acer-VZ.JCN00.001

Honestly, if I had a choice, I wouldn't purchase the remote from here. 40 EUR seems pretty steep for such a cheap piece of plastic eek.gif . If you can manage to get a better quality universal remote working with your K330, you'd likely save money at the same time.

Also I remember finding a Chinese website lost in the depths of a Google Search selling the same IR remote for around 30.

EDIT: I just now realized that you could alternatively search the actual part number (VZ.JCN00.001). there seem to be many different international vendors offering it.
Just keep Google Translate alt-tabbed wink.gif

I have since gotten a harmony 650 remote and download acer k330 profile.

In NVIDIA Control Panel I changed the Digital color format from RBG to YCBCR44 and notice the color saturation got a lot better
