Inherited a samsung R120 from dad awhile back.
A few minutes into recording it would halt. I'd start again to some success, Though when finalizing (12% into it) I'd get Error Code ( EC: ) 0547 , which is conveniently, nowhere, readily found on the net.
There were some mentions of R120 needing a firmware upgrade, but I found no support on the samsung website. The usual "are you using the right disks?"- yes poor Samy only likes x8 but I've read with this nonexistent firmware it can handle a x16- but I have enough coasters.
The manual says if you get EC's turn Samy off/on....
Upon doing so the player, sometimes wouldn't recognize the disk "This disk cannot be played nor recorded"
With no answers i threw a lens cleaning disk in.
I didn't assume it would work, as the video recorded fine, I could play it back without hiccup. How could it record with a dirty lens? Well.... somehow that did it.
After 4 hours of unanswered questions, a seemingly miraculous recording, a lens cleaner allowed the lesser known EC:0547 to be scrubbed clean for finalizing to complete.
I lurk here for answers from time to time and thought this could be of some use, as I couldn't find an answer anywhere and samsung support is a joke.
