Help Me Pick A Receiver

I just bought the following speakers/sub:

Polk Audio CS2 Series II Center Channel Speaker (Black)
Polk Audio Monitor60 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) (2)
Polk Audio PSW Series PSW505 12" Powered Subwoofer

Im going to eventually buy some rears to complete a 5.1 setup, but for now I need to buy a reciever to power what I just got. I want to spend up to a max for $500, but anything less than that is a plus. I'm new to all the features offered by modern receivers so any suggestions/help is appreciated.

Denon avr-1911 or Denon Avr-1712

What will toy be hooking up to this receiver? Do you need up conversion?

I will be hooking up a LG 50pk750 plasma, a dvd player that already has up-conversion, and FiOS cable. Soon i'll be buying a blu-ray player as well. Not to worried about only 4 HDMI inputs. What online retailer would you recommend? I enjoy deals

Onkyo TX NR609 (currently in no-brainer territory under $460. To get a Denon that can do as much costs $800-900)
Pioneer VSX920/1020 (last year close out, under $300/400 respectively)
Yamaha RX-V667/867 (just under $400 and just over $400)
Marantz SR5005(would be my pick, at $490 trumps almost everything else above)

To me the above list(including the 1911/1712 above...which I'd choose the 1911 by a LONG mile) is really a 3 horse race...

Yamaha RX-V867
Onkyo TX NR609
Marantz SR5005 (for $40 more than the AVR1911, there is no reason to pick the 1911)

I'd agree with schan here.

And add to the list the pioneer elite 32 and pio 1120 which can be found for $450.

Also, depends if you ever plan on running external amps. In this case, you'll need pre outs. So your list would narrow to the pio elite 32, pio 1120, yammy 667, yammy 867, and marantz 5005.

Good luck. I'm currently looking for the an avr in the same price range as well.

I am also in the same boat of which receiver to purchase. I was able to purchase a Denon 2112Ci for $420. It has not shipped yet and I might be having second thoughts. I am thinking about Monitor audio bronze or silver BX6, or B&W 604 or 603's. they were demoed with an Integra 40.3 which sounded amazing and now I don't know if my denon will be powerful enough, or sound to bright paired with the monitors(which I read they can be). Are the Intergra receivers a lot better build/power than the Onkyo's? WHAT TO DO????

^^^this is why you get Avrs with Pre amp outputs. If you ever want more power, you just get an external amp. And I doubt you'll see a ton of difference betwee a 90 watt and 100 or 110 watt avr power wise. If you really need more power, you need to get an amp that has significantly more power.

Is iPod connectivity important?
Ok so what about denon vs onkyo or integra. I can pick up a 40.2 integra that is almost new for a bit over $600. It doesn't have audessy xt, only the eq. Is the audessy xt that important? I've been told the integra amps are more true to ratings vs onkyo? If i go denon, i would have to spend much more for pre outs( bummer ).

I don't have an ipod so I dont care about having a connection for it. So there seems to be many choices to pick from and I feel like im leaning towards the Marantz SR5005. Are there things missing from this receiver that the others have besides the amount of HDMI inputs? Also where would you guys recommend buying it? Are there any deals that you are aware of?
