My Samsung LCD has developed the shakes

First off, my apologies in advance if this is a repeat thread. I spent about 10 minutes or so checking but didn't find any. Anyway, my Samsung LN55C750 has developed minor but highly noticeable vertical (up and down) shaking over the past week.

Background: My Sammy is fed by a Pioneer SC-05 receiver and it in turn gets its signals from a Scientific Atlanta DVR/PVR and a Playstation Blu-ray player. About a week ago, the SC-05 blew up (I'll be posting about that in another post in the appropriate section shortly) and what I mean by that, I had fired it up, had about 3 seconds of picture, then the picture and sound just disappeared. While irked about this, I simply pulled the HDMI cable out the back of the receiver and plugged it directly into the DVR. Voila, picture and sound back, but after viewing for a few minutes I noticed this vertical shaking. I've checked all the cables, I've unplugged and cycled the TV and the cable box, to no avail. I called my Samsung dealer (Futureshop, so how much real knowledge they have is questionable I suppose) and they don't have a clue. As we speak, I'm sitting in front of the Sammy writing this note and watching the Jays and Red Sox at Fenway. The Sox just counted 4 in the 4th and now lead 6-3. Anyway, I digress. The score box at the top of the screen makes it really noticeable. Also, the base lines shake a lot. The thing is, the shaking isn't consistent or rhythmical. It might shake 5 or 6 times one second, and maybe only 1 or 2 the next.

Anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for you input.

Does it do it when fed signals from the PS3?

I think its the Anynet+ HDMI-CEC feature on the Samsung HDTV.

I have had electromagnetic interference problems that have effected (very limited, thankfully) my receiver in the past.

Most Receivers get function signals and give functional signals to HDTVS, its called HDMI-CEC (Anynet+ for Samsung).

My guess is that the Pioneer's Dying signals tweaked your Samsung's central processing unit (CPU).

Unfortunately you would need a hard reset to the HDTV's CPU, lose your settings and this still might not work.

Sorry I don't know how to hard reset your TV.

Hi Steve,

should have thought of that. Will rent a movie for tomorrow night (though I hate watching movies without Surround - maybe I'll rent a documentary ;-)) and check it out. I'm guessing that if the set is fine then maybe that would indicate an issue with my PVR/DVR.

Will look into that - thanks for the idea!
