Choosing speakers is like finding a restaurant that serves food you find appetizing. Everyone's tastes are different and all you are going to get with a thread like this is a seemingly random set of responses. Even if everyone responds with "Polk", it doesn't mean you'll like them.

Recommendation: Buy just the left and right speakers from the store with the best return policy, try them out, and buy the rest if you like them, or return them and try the other if they don't.

For a blind buy in your budget range, I think the the safer bet is with the Infinity Primus line though.

Infinity speakers tend to be more "neutral" sounding than most budget speakers, so there is less chance of them producing something you might find offensive. Then again, if you like a sizzlely treble and booming bass, these won't be right either. Depends on what you are after.

Personally, I have always been a Yamaha fan, I like the "crisp" sound from my NS-6HX. I also have 2 very cheap NS-300 for an old music system which are absolutely great. Not to mention my even older NS-1000 SM's which still blow me away almost 40 years after buying them. But as hifisponge mentions, everyone has their own tastes. I would suggest taking one of your favourite CD's (something that you are really familiar with and can pick out all the little nuances on) to a store where you can audition both of your options (and who knows, try a few others). I wouldn't buy mains based on someone else's opinion, you're the one who has to live with them.

Polk are good but you might want to wait till the go on sale and save some money. Newegg is constantly running sales. The monitor 60's are $109 per speaker right now

you're right, I do not like the Infinty are ugly, but I can not hear I am going to buy online, I'm from another country Dominican Republic, excuse my bad English is not very good buy it for the experience of others, polk $ 751 price increase!

Buying on blind faith can be daunting.

The biggest risk is if there is a problem...but you are used to the pratfalls of "living in paradise".

I would, personally, buy the Polk from Newegg or get BIC DV series from Amazon.

The BIC DV64 and DV84 are both very nice sounding speakers...and between them or the Monitor 70...both are great choices.

I vote for Polk hands down.
Had the Yamahas been vintage NS-640s or something the Yamahas would win, hands-down.

I owned a pair of BIC V830 way(and I mean back when "center channel" was the new thing...and VHS ruled the HT roost) back when.

They had a speaker in the line called the V62(which back then, BIC was American made and sold in high end shops like HiFi Buys and Ovation). Morph to the present and BIC are now assembled in China using the very same tweeter and woofer as they had back then. So, if you count the V62 and DV62 as the "same speaker", it has been in constant production...33 years. There must be something "right" about it.

The DV64 is the DV62 with an extra woofer...and two passive radiators.

I vote it a tie between the Polk M60/70 and the BIC DV64/84.

p.s. The DV84 uses the same woofer as the older V830 did, just no midrange anymore.

I have a NS-555/C444/125F setup, my coworker has a Monitor 70/60 II setup, both powered by Yamaha receivers, and I like my setup more.

I prefer the BIC! for the price and good reviews, thanks to the recommendation schan1269, Onkyo TX-NR709 is good for BICS?

is a good choice?

Not a bad setup I prefer denon receivers, the newer onkyo's are said to be better but time will tell truth and the yamaha rx-v867 might be something to look at

I will just recommend to stay away from the Onkyo TX SR/NR X08. The X09 are a different animal than last years receivers...

Maybe that gives you confidence, maybe it doesn't.

The 2112 is a great receiver, yes it "loses" some features of the NR609...but, that is your choice to make.

I would pick the RX-V667/867 before I'd pick the 671.

Polk for sure....check of their refurb store on Ebay...it carries a warranty (i believe the same warranty as new speakers) and this will save you some coin. I purchased my sub and rear surrounds from here, and to me they look and sound brand new.

On the AVR side, I know this wasn't on your list, but check out Pioneer - maybe even the Elite series. You may me able to get an Elite for around 700 if you do your shopping

Polks have a bright sound, they are clean but wont get as low as the yams will. Depends on crossover point preference and whether or not you want bright or warm speakers.
