best budget friendly receiver to power my polk audio speakers

I currently have an Onkyo TX-SR506 receiver,
my speakers are two sets of polk audio Tsi100's a center to match and a lower end polk powered sub.

While at costco I noticed they have a Pioneer VSX-31 for $299.99

It seems to have alot of features...
I am mainly looking for sound quality and power for my polk's.
My onkyo is rated at 75wpc...the pioneer 80wpc.

The pioneer seems to have pretty good reviews.
can anyone comment on whether this would be an noticable improvement?

Any other recommended receivers that would out preform my Onkyo in that price range?

The major(notable) disadvantage to the 506 is the lack of audio from HDMI.

You won't notice much difference in volume(5 watts is negligible).

I don't know if the 506 has multiple crossovers or not...but, if it does, you may miss that with the Elite??? Maybe not...

But since you have 100's and they need a 80-ish hz crossover anyway...then the blanket crossover offered by the Elite is fine anyway.

Any improvement you see will all be in "ease of use"...which will be a monumental leap forward...no matter what you end up with.

And for the record...all modern AVR(starting with last year) all take audio off the HDMI now.

thankyou very much for that info.
I guess I am ok with the onkyo for now....
A boost in sound quality/power would be nice...but I probably could not achieve much without a bigger budget.
