Denon 4310 and new TV issue

Thread Starter
I purchased a new Samsung 7 series TV and I now have an issue with my Denon receiver changing the source input after I turn on the TV. I have my DTV receiver connected to my 4310 via HDMI and when I turn everything on I get picture and sound but after about 10 seconds or less the source on the Denon changes to TV Stereo and I lose sound and picture. I can change it back to my DTV source and it's fine but every time I turn the TV on I have to wait until it automatically changes to TV Stereo and change it back. Then I'm good until the next time I turn it back on. Any idea why the Denon source would change by it's self.
Thanks

This issue is caused by Anynet+ on the Samsung TV being set to ON. Set it to OFF and that will resolve the issue.

What HDMI jack do you have the AVR plugged in to on the TV? What source name do you have the HDMI jack on the AVR assigned to? Do you have HDMI Control on the AVR set to YES, or the default setting of NO? Are you using the HDMI pass through in Standby feature?

What HDMI jack do you have the AVR plugged in to on the TV? 1 DVI

What source name do you have the HDMI jack on the AVR assigned to? SAT/CBL

Do you have HDMI Control on the AVR set to YES, or the default setting of NO? Control is set to on.

Are you using the HDMI pass through in Standby feature? Not sure where this is located. Standby source is set to last.

Almost forgot... Thank you for helping.

Confirm that Anynet+ is set to OFF as that is what "should" be causing the issue. Do you need to pass the DTV box through the AVR when it's in Standby? If not, set HDMI Control to OFF as well. Also, HDMI 1 jack on the TV should not be labeled DVI as that would imply video only.

It is set to off and I have no sound at all. I turned off HDMI control on the AVR and that fixed the issue with the source changing. I no longer have pass through now.

The HDMI 1 is DVI 2 is ARC and 3 and 4 have nothing but the number. Should I be using a different HDMI input on the TV?

Unplug the HDMI cable from the TV .. if you now get audio from the AVR, then plug the HDMI cable into another HDMI jack on the TV and then set HDMI Control back to ON if you want to use that feature.

No audio... Plugged into HDMI 3 and still no audio with anynet set to off and HDMI control on.

As soon as I turn off anynet I lose audio. If I turn off HDMI control on the AVR I am good. I just don't have the pass through.

My next issue is going to be getting sound from youtube and other apps. How is the sound sent back to the AVR?

Can you reset the TV? Samsung's can be difficult with Anynet+. Try connecting the DTV box HDMI directly to the TV with optical or coax digital (use yellow composite video cable if you don't have an optical) from the DTV box to the AVR for surround audio. Then you can still get your audio via the TV speakers when you want and no HDMI handshake issue.

Not sure how to reset the TV. I see what your saying on how to get audio on to the tv but I don't want to lose my 7.1 surround sound by going with something less than HDMI to the AVR.

The best your DTV box can do is DD 5.1 which will easily pass via the optical/digital coax cable and the AVR will then simulate 7.1 just as it does with the HDMI cable connection.

I get what you are saying... You are correct that I could get the same sound with an optical cable to the AVR from the DTV box. And I could leave the HDMI for the blu-ray going to the AVR for the 7.1. That is an option I will look into. I know I have an optical cable laying around here somewhere.

What I don't get is if I turn off the anynet I lose audio to the AVR. If I can figure out how to reset the TV I will see if that might fix it. I am ok with anynet on and the HDMI control off on the AVR for now.
