Just what sleep problems are you experiencing? Is it when it wakes itself up or from a manual wakeup?

I'm new to the 2650 and have had a couple of glitches at first, but it's been fine since the first week (about a month ago).

After a sleep/wake cycle or two, the tuners are unavailable and the red light is on.

This started happening a few months into ownership, perhaps due to a windows update. I didn't chase it down, just turned off 'sleep' and it works fine. This PC also acts as my Plex client, so it's not a huge deal, but at some point I'd like to fix it.

I've always had that problem with the 2650's. My solution was to sell them and get a Ceton. Never had an issue since.

Thanks. Apparently it's something peculiar to your system. I'm running Beyond TV on this system for the ATSC tuners and it wakes the computer for it's own recordings in addition to WMC and a backup that also wakes it so I guess I'm ok. I just wanted to be prepared for any ongoing problems with tuner, if any.

Anyone getting a "no tuner available" error after updating? I updated today, did the firmware/driver and Tuning adapter driver separately, not the all-in-one install, since last time I did that it completely messed up my WinTV settings. Everything said it installed correctly. However now I am getting the No Tuner Available error. Got it twice tonight, both times I was watching one channel, and a recording was scheduled for the second tuner. The error pops up, then changes to the channel to be recorded. Then I go back to the guide to return to the program I was watching, and I get that error again. A reboot helped, as when it came back on, both tuners were available. But then the recording ended as usual, and a half hour later it happened again when the next program was scheduled.

Pull the power to the unit for a minute or so and then plug it back in. That usually fixes that issue when out of the blue I get the 'no tuner or no signal' issues.

I ran the firmware update and everything still seems to be fine with the tuner.

I've had a weird problem that's happened a couple of times, but I don't think it's really due to the Hauppauge unless it's the Hauppage ir for the remote.

A couple of times I've had the remotes go completely haywire where the buttons do not match the action and even the mouse acts flaky where I can't even get the shutdown for restart to stay visible to use so I have to either shut down or use the reset button on the pc. I'm new to WMC on 7 as I used XP for years on this pc for BeyondTV and I never had this happen before. Just wondering if the problem is related to WMC or possibly Aero which I'll probably just disable. I have 2 remotes for this pc (one that is for BeyondTV) but I've used 2 for some time without this problem until I activated WMC.

That was happening with me for quite awhile even before the update. Couldn't make it through one day. Anyway I finally attached an external drive (1TB at this point) told WMC to store the recordings there and then I moved my previous recordings to the new drive. Since then the tuners have stayed available.

Well I have to update that I'm still losing my tuners. Any other clues? Should I turn off my screensaver?

bumping regarding a new driver package as of mid march

I turned 'sleep' back on after the last firmware install and had a decent ~2 week run of regaining the tuners on 'wake'. Then it started flaking big time, losing tuners every day.
I checked into the the logs and noticed 'IP address expired' at each failed wake.
The FAQ page lists firewall compatibility issues, but not with the OE Windows firewall. In any case, I created a new rule allowing the IP that the 2650 uses.
We'll see how the new drivers hold up.

Is anyone actually running two 2650's on the same machine. I can't find much information on the topic but it appears not to work with tuning adapters. Can someone confirm? Is there a workaround?

Also my setup had problems with recording after coming out of sleep mode, I "fixed" it by leaving it on. Ruiner please let us know how it works out.

Outside of the technicalities, why would someone do this? The main point of the 2650 is that it's the cheapest cable card tuner due to it having only 2 tuners. If I want more tuners than I'd rather go with a Prime or a Ceton (as that would only require one Cablecard).

I run a duet ota tuner too. It never gives problems, so at least the network shows record.

Does anyone know how to resolve the issue of the tuners not appearing in media center? I have everything set up and have a solid green light on the tuning adapter and on the system and cable lights on the 2650. I confirmed that the cable card is synced and activated and that I am getting a cable signal. After reading most of this thread it seems that my AV/Firewall might be the issue which makes sense because when I look at the 2650 in my network settings I can see that it doesn't have an IP address. I've already tried disabling my AV and going from there but no such luck.

Did you run the cable adviser and cablecard setup in WMC? Which firewall are you using?

I did run the cable adviser and my system passed. So I then proceeded to install the most recent drivers and firmware from the hauppauge website and go through the cable card setup. I am using SecureIT which was provided by my last ISP but I am thinking of moving over to comodo. I did my best to create the necessary rules that hauppauge recommend but I am still seeing the issue of media center not seeing the tuners. Should the Tuner 1 and Tuner 2 lights appear to be green only after an IP address has been received?

I don't know what all you use this system for, but on my HTPCs where I really only record/watch TV and stream I use the Windows firewall and nothing else. I've been doing this for 7 years with 2 HTPCs with XP and then 7 and have never had a problem by not having a 3rd party firewall and anti-virus/spyware.

Use only Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Firewall.

Right now my main computer is the only option I have right now until I finish my media pc build in a few weeks. But am I right in that the firewall is blocking the tuners from getting an IP address?

Tuners are IP based I believe.

I (and many here) only use these two things on all my (their) computers. There is no reason to use other stuff as they work very well.

Thanks Sammy. I'll disable my 3rd party AV and only use the Microsoft security essentials and the firewall and see if that gets things working.

Good luck. If you try to disable it it might think that YOU are the virus.

So I uninstalled my 3rd party AV and now I am able to pick up the tuners in media center. However, it now seems I cannot pick up any SDV channels. I spent the past hour with a TWC tech trying to resolve the issue but no such luck. A tech is coming by tomorrow to check the levels and switch out the TA. Is this a driver issue now?

Everything is working now. I just had to re install the tuning resolver service.

I'm looking for help with my dcr2650. I was so excited when FIOS added BEIN Sports a couple weeks ago. But, looks like my dcr2650 does not like it. I can watch all HD channels with no problems. BEIN sports is the only pixelated channel. I tried to reinstall the firmware and everything but no change, I checked the splitters, connections ....nothing. I dont know what else to do. Windows 7 pro. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a problem either from Fios or where ever the guide data is coming from. Try downloading your guide data again or call Fios to make sure your cablecard is authorized for that channel.

For those of you with occasional busy/not found/etc tuner messages....something to try if you haven't already is make sure you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard and most current chipset/usb drivers installed in windows. As noted in several spots through out this thread, I too was having these type issues. I generally keep drivers up to date as it is, but In this particular case, it was a BIOS update that did the trick for me and my Intel DH67BL. I wasn't running the original shipped BIOS before then, but also hadn't bothered looking/updating the BIOS in a long while either as the machine otherwise runs perfect. Got bored one day and updated it for the heck of it....and wouldn't you know the 2650 has been rock solid and working perfectly ever since! Must have been some tweaks to USB and/or power management (since a lot of these tuner problems surface with some sleep/wake cycles beforehand) in the BIOS update.


Danart....the pixilation is likely the actual channel or you may have a bad connection somewhere between the ONT and the tuner causing some ingress to affect the particular frequency that channel is on. Ingress usually affects more then 1 channel though....doesn't have to be a lot of channels, but usually more then just 1 single channel. As far as the actual channel goes...not all are created equal. Some are much higher bitrate (thus much higher quality) then others. Verizon isn't known to further compress channels like some cable co's and the like. You typically get them at the same bitrate that they receive them from the broadcaster. If Verizon is getting a crap feed from BEIN tho, your getting that crap feed passed right to your TV.

I had this problem twice with my cable company. Once, ESPN HD would not come in, or if it would, it would be pixelated. My cable box from the same company worked fine, so I knew the signal from the channel itself was fine. Turned out to be a bad cablecard, apparently it had a problem with that channel only. The same thing happened a month ago, Showtime HD did the same thing. Again, swapping out cablecards fixed it.
