I am thinking about rearranging my room and wanted to get some input to see if it would be worth it. I have tried to attach a scale drawing of my room for reference, but for some reason it will not load it so I will try and explain this the best I can. The room is in an "L" shape and the one section I am using for my HT is 10.5' X 20', and it opens up to the back game room that is 14' X 9.5'; I will try uploading the drawing later to give a better reference. Right now I have my TV centered on the 20 foot with my MLP centered on the TV. I like this setup because it allows me to have my 9.1 with wides and heights setup almost exactly to the Audyssey diagram.
What I am thinking about doing is centering my TV on the 10.5 foot wall with two rows of seating (obviously the back row will be up on a riser). The only reason I am thinking about doing this is becasue it seems it would isolate the system a little more and possibly give me better sound (although I would have to seriously consider room treatments as I would think this route may cause more reflections) and more than just one seat will be centered on the TV.
One other thing to keep in mind is that my AV rack is in the corner next to the closet at the bottom of the steps (all of my wires; cable, ethernet etc. come in through the closet) so I would need to use about a 25-30 ft HDMI cable and I have heard mixed reults using HDMI at this length especially when you are talking about playing Blu Ray's with Dolby and DTS HD master tracks. Going this route I amy have to lose my wide channels, but I think I can live with that. I figured in this setup I would set my speakers up for conventional 7.1 and also 7.1 with heights and switch depending on what I want to listen to at that given time.
Any insight from anyone here would be appreciated. TIA
