Read your manual. On a normal sub that knob is the low pass for the LFE (.1 channel) in a soundtrack. It should normally be turned all the way up or to 120 Hz. On a Bose module I have no idea...

I'd bet that the user's manual would explain what it's for and how to use it.

And to think I gave him homework to read the bose manual 3 times cover to cover

Since I am feeling like a nice teacher here is what the manual says on page 11

Adjusting the LFE level
The LFE level control (shown above) is for use only with receivers that provide an LFE/SUBWOOFER channel.

By turning the knob, you can adjust the relative level of the low-frequency effects from movie soundtracks. Use it to match the volume level of the LFE channel with volume levels of your other speaker channels.

You can check all levels by using the test tones feature on your digital surround sound receiver. For details on using this feature, refer to the owner's guide provided with your !
surround receiver.

READ YOUR MANUALS!!!!!!!

Like everything Bose makes, it's just there to look good and serves no useful purpose at all.

Post the model number of your Bose sub/system and tell us how you have it connected to your receiver/speakers. Post the model number of the receiver, too.

And they are the biggest seller of speakers in the world, despite the hate for them seen on audio forums . Reconcile that with your statement .

And off we go...................

There's no conflict. Quality and popularity are not always synonymous.
