Replacement driver for Energy ES12-XL

I have an old Sub Energy ES12-XL. The surround on the driver is starting to peel off. I want to replace the driver. What's a good but responsibly price driver to replace?

It's easy to find a speaker to fit, buts a bit more difficult to find a speaker that will sound the same or better in the same box. Is there any chance you could find out the t/s parameters of the existing driver? If so then you could probably find something close at parts-express.com

Thanks for you reply, I was looking at Part Express, but didn't know which sub to get as replacement. I posted specs of the old driver in post #2. I'm not too picky on sound quality, just something to add a little oommphhs to movies and music. My sub is in a very small room, so don't need a bunch of power neither. I believe the old sub is 8 Ohms. Do I need to look for replacement of same Ohm?

"Do I need to look for replacement of same Ohm?"

that would be a good idea.

i'll see if i can suggest a driver.

this one looks okay in what i am guessing is about 3 cubic feet enclosure tuned to around 27 or 28 hz.

just check two things. first, make sure that the driver that it is replacing is a nominal 8 ohm driver, not a nominal 4 ohm.

second, make sure that it will fit. check the diameter and depth just to be sure.

good luck.

Ltd, thanks for the recommendation. That sub looks way more than what I intend to use, anything else you recommend in a lower price range?

Probably not.

Have you considered re-foaming? It's simple enough for a newbie to do after watching a couple youtube how-to videos. Call and find out if this kit fits your sub.
