Out of all the plasma tv's which is the best to game on
post #2 of 16
We have a 55VT30 and a 51D8000 here and they are both testing in the mid to upper 20's (ms). Even the most serious of all gamers are very unlikely to notice input lag that low. Really with any newer plasma lag should not be an issue.

Panasonic VT30, GT30, and ST30 are the three best TVs to game on.

Why not a single Samsung?

Because they have more Input Lag, and are more prone to get IR.

The lag is still so minimal that it would not be noticeable. More prone to IR? Any proof to back that up?

A true panny drone fan. Im using a Samsung 43d490 and have used a samsung B8000 for gaming and never had any IR. As for panasonic my brothers friends had 08 panny plasmas and I had a 09 and they all had IR. In fact from what I've seen in the panny ST30 thread theres been a lot of problems so I would not recommend that panny at all. If your looking for a 42-50" screen look at samsung D490/450 plasmas.

I purchased an LG 50PZ750 (3D Plasma)

Input lag is horrible. I have been trying desperately to adjust the settings to get it down. I have not made any measurements, but this is just coming from a serious gamer.

Game mode is not sufficient. I was able to lower the lag by going into one of the ISF modes, turning off more of the settings and setting the aspect ratio to "Just Scan"

I wouldn't recommend this plasma for gaming. I'm considering returning / getting a different set.. IMO movies / tv look amazing though

I'm using a panasonic 55GT30, no IR, no noticeable lag. Works great.

No issues with my D7000. Have left static images on the screen for 15 minutes with no ill effects.

By the way, my buddy bought two samsung 50" plasmas from last year (D550?). He has a PS3 on each. Both get many hours of play each week. We played COD and Killzone, also gran turismo and a whole lot of fighting games with health bars etc... I have never noticed any IR until one time when we had paused a game for 1 hour, went for a beer and came back. When we returned, we unpaused the game and started a new one. The was a SLIGHT ghost during a black screen. When gameplay resumed I didnt notice anything on the screen after that. He has never adjusted the settings on the TV other than setting it to the "Movie" or "theater" mode.

I have to say, I never thought gaming could look that nice, a plasma is hands down the winner in picture quality. Don't get all scared about IR nightmares. If you buy a plasma of this year, you will be fine. Just make sure you don't abuse it and be a bit more concious about lenghty static images, turn the contrast and brightness down, and make sure the burn in protection is on. Change up the content on the screen and it will be just fine. If you forget and see some IR, use the scroll bar for a while.

I know this is blasphemy to people here, but he's seriously not worried at all. He just got plasmas because they were on clearance. It doesn't seem like he researched anythign about plasma, he just wanted two large TV's. Now whether he realised what he was doing to his plasma or not, I don't think he did, neither did I. I have just been reading up on plasmas in the last month or two.
