Not related to apps but rather IR and burn in. I purchased a Samsung Pn51d6500 about 4 months ago and everything was great. Ran the slides for over 300 hours, had pixel shift functionality enabled and even ran the scrolling wipe every night. I was anal to the point of having my kid flip channels every 10 minutes to clear the logos. The tv exhibited minor IR but nothing that wouldn't go away. About a month ago, a white horizontal line appeared on the screen and wouldn't go away. Samsung sent a tech out and they said it was a bad address line. The tech took pictures for Samsung to approve a panel replacement and he noticed some IR with the Cartoon Network logo. He left and I did hear from them until I called almost a month later. They informed me that they could not warranty the tv because it had burn in and that fixing the address line would also fix the burn in. At this point I'm floored and take it to the highest level of support to no avail. They will not do anything for me.
The kicker is, we hardly watch CN and the image is still there slightly when playing light test slides. Can't tell if it's burn in or IR but they will not fix my set. When I asked the reps who made the determination it was burn in and not IR, they stated it was the same thing. I told them they were wrong and to read their own manual. At this point, I'm not sure what to do. I'm extremely upset they they will not fix a problem under warranty because it may fix one that's not covered. Seems like a cop out to me.
