Mac to PS3 streaming?

Hi all, I found a great media center program for my mac called Ps3 Media Server. I am able to connect via a crossover cable for stutterless 1080p streaming, however the program transcodes to h264 on the fly. is there any solution that will let me stream with a different higher quality codec than h264 or even the non-transcoded mkv file directly? I am convinced it can look better but maybe not.
