DVD Ripping in Lion

I don't often rip DVDs, but when I do I use Mactheripper. Since it's a PowerPC application, I assume it won't run on Lion. What's a good alternative to Mactheripper?

Gotta say, until (unless?) there is another app that allows removal of all the mandatory watching of bs included on DVDs, I will not upgrade to Lion on my Mac Pro (currently upgrading on my MacBookPro).

RipiIt is a Universal app, 64 bit, I think. Does it do what you need? It certainly accomplishes its main task with aplomb.

There has been no hopeful commentary over at the MTR forum that the app will be supported in Lion.

Frankly, it's been about 2 years since MTR could still be deemed a "must-have" app--whereas MakeMKV, Handbrake and Ripit have only gained in relevance and value. I still have MTR 4 on the desktop, but don't turn to it that often anymore.

Been using RipIt for a few years. I rip to an internal drive and then use turbo.264 HD with the dongle to convert to MP4 for use with my iPad and Apple TV.

Just curious, but since you are doing conversion for iPad/Apple TV, why do you do the rip?

turbo.264 HD does not not rip copy protected DVDs directly. RipIt removes the copy protection and then it does the conversion. It takes roughly 30 minutes to rip and convert a two hour movie using this method whereas it would take much longer using just RipIt.

Got it. Thanks!
