And he can go twice as fast with two sets of paws, uh, hands.

Looks awesome. Great idea.

Of course, megabuck national security computers are child's play compared with the complexity of a Philharmonic crossover. So I'll check his work.

Sorry if my original statement came across as criticism, as I was just bantering with you. I have no doubt that any product with your name on it will not also have your attention to detail and complete satisfaction.

So, I can pick mine up this weekend?

Most guys would have loved to save money on B-stock.

You got lucky there.

No problem. I just didn't want anyone to think someone from Bose or Wilson Audio was wiring up those crossovers.

Someone from Wilson Audio wiring up the crossovers would probably in of itself raise the price to around 10k. Of course, they would use Space Age Solder that is 192% oxygen free mined from a special mine on Mars.

Someone from Zu wouldn't know what one is.

So is that picture two pair of Phil 2 xovers and one pair of Phil 3's or the other way around?

Of the other dudes that you mentioned... How far down is mrlittlejeans? His ark is pretty quiet without some nice speakers and his hounds are getting restless.

With two hound dogs around, I doubt that your ark is particlularly quiet. But you're pretty far up the list--near the front. I should certainly be shipping yours next week some time.

Just after you order the wait time is not bad at all for a custom made speaker, but the final week or two may as well be a lifetime. Or so it seems.

rated 4ohm but if i remember it was more 4.5 ohm..., Dennis already posted something about this on the forum, just search for it =) it was in a graph

My first order took 4 weeks chrono i ordered a friday and went at the border a friday 4 week later to pick them up.

So if you're in the U.S. expect around 4 week. But trust me, it doesn't matter if it takes 2 month, they worth it.
Are they the best speaker in the world?? i guess not!
Are they the best speaker pair for 2k ??? YES (why can't i write in 72 height :P)

Loaded question, however, I just hooked up tonight for fun....my musical paradise tube amp I use with the PC and Philharmonitor 2s. Couldn't believe how nice the sound was, not a lot of volume for 6.5wpc.

But, when I hooked it back up to the monitors one of the tubes went out.

Dennis said at least 100wpc. In the theater I have a Emotiva xpa-5, 200wpc and works very well, a little disatisfying to me at the top end, so that is why I am looking for something to warm it up.

I am very happy with the bass on the 2s for 2 channel listening. The monitors are no slouch in the low end either.

Hi I haven't heard the RS6's, so all I have to go on is Stereophile's measurements. From those, it looks like the useful lower end response is about 40 Hz. The equivalent figure for the Phil 2 would be 32 Hz, and around 25 Hz for the Phil 3. I would expect the RS6's to sound a little brighter than the Phil's, and probably not sound quite as relaxed and open on instruments with very high harmonics, like triangles and bells. On the other hand, the RS6's are considerably more sensitive. I don't think that would be an issue if you have 185 watts on tap into 4 ohms, but you would have to goose the volume control more than you are now. I certainly can't promise that you would prefer the Phil's to the Monitor Audio. I can promise that they will go lower, and I'm pretty sure the frequency response is flatter overall, and I would suspect that the sound stage is deeper due to the Phil's open-back midrange.

You can find measurements on the Philharmonic Audio website, under each of the speakers.

Here is the graph for impedance of the Phil 2:

Quote:

The last plot shows the system impedance for the Philharmonic 2. With the exception of the region between 1000 Hz and 2500 Hz, which will not prove a problem for any well designed amplifier, the impedance is at or above 4 ohms. Overall, the impedance plot is very flat with no wide swings in phase angle that could tax an amplifier.

buddahead,

Even the the malfunctioning pair of Philharmonic 2's that I spent a week with sounded better than the Monitor Audio RS6's, so you don't have anything to worry about. I suppose finding out what genres of music you listen to will help better answer your question, though. So, what do you listen to, and how loud?
