I was originally goung to buy the 3s but Dennis repeatedly persuaded me to get the 2s being that there is not much difference. He also advised to keep them stock and not upgrade them in any way. He is my kind of salesperson.

They will be used strictly for two channel with quality gear backing them. I won't be listening to any classical on them so I'm interested to hear how they sound with primarily electronic (Depeche Mode, House, trance, break beat, etc.) and jazz (Frank, Ella, Matt Dusk, Coltrane, Jacky Terrasson, Oscar Peterson, etc.)

When do you expect to take delivery?
Dennis said around January 20th.

He said it takes a full four days to assemble them, calibrate the crossovers, and test them. After he's back from Germany he's got a few 2s (and a 3 I believe) ahead of mine.
The 2s will be taking over 2 channel duty from my Focal Electra towers.
Yep, and a pair of those is mine!!!!

I think I can help you on the music as I play a lot of that too, actually a wide variety of just about everything.

The caow1s are EXCELLENT when it comes to Depeche Mode, Air, junior boys, cirez D, inner circle and Deadmau5. Even the bass is accentuated nicely with these little 5" Seas woofers.

Also, Jazz is wonderful, so as I remember the 1s and the 3s were fantastic on bass and most of what you mentioned is bass oriented, right?

You will be overwhelmed with the quality of workmanship and sound these will give and, believe me and adding the RAAL......., just can't wait!

A few 2s and a pair of philharmonitor 2s too!!!!
Cool. Yeah the music is bass oriented somewhat and I'm looking forward to the honesty of the drivers with the DM et all.

:

Dennis did say that the Chinese cabinets are amazing. Very well built with a 1 1/2" baffle and almost over braced.

Yes, he told me too, did he send you a pick of your crossovers?
No, he just alluded to including the standard configuration.

What are you picking?

Just the standard, no upgrades....not at all necessary for these speakers! IMHO!

Are you having them shipped or pick up?

He said he already optimized them to sound like the Salk Soundscapes and that's enough for me.

Getting them shipped since I'm near Ottawa in Canada. Shipping gonna be heavy. My Emotiva amps cost enough and they are probably half the weight.

I just looked at the Bryston website and I'm thrilled that the 4BSST2 I recently bought will throw 500w into 4ohms at the 2s. Should sound pretty dynamic and clean.

An amp that costs more than the speakers, unheard of!!!!

Not should sound dynamic and clean, but will!!! You will have to report back on that combo!

Trust me, I know what you mean! I'm going to Vegas on friday, and I'm stoked. Not because its Vegas, but because there are some AV stores close to my hotel with brands that I can't listen to locally. (Too far away.)
The amp cost 5k, the speakers are 2k but are equivalent to 11k speakers (SS), so maybe it makes sense.

How much do they usually go for used?

Around 2k-3k depending on how old. The 4Bs from 20-30 years ago, if memory serves, can be as low as $500. This seller on ebay usually has used Bryston gear:
