Ahh, gotcha. There is a difference in the pics for woofer. If there was no difference I was going to check with Dennis and just have mine upgraded to the 3's just to be a member of the club.

Sincerely,

Willis

Kinda looks like they ran out of room. What are they, a 1.8 way design?

I saw another HUGE mistake - get my center channel cabinet off those damn inferior speakers!!!

Yes, I don't need the 3's. I considered them for a brief moment but Dennis convinced me the 2's would be fine for my use. I am extremely happy I will be getting a Phil center though.

Hahaha :P

They use "Built to our spec" Vifa-Speak drivers. The crossover is 3rd order at 6KHZ.

I am definitely jealous about the center channel, no doubt about it. I guess this means I'll have to start saving my pennies to buy one of those new redesigned Phil 3s to use as a center

I probably don't need the 3s either buuuutt these are going to be my first truly great speakers so heck why not go for gold

Yeah but you could also take that 1000$ and order a 18 inch Woofer and build yourself one big badboy to handle that bass =) But it looks less pretty =)

Nah I'm gonna build a couple custom subs anyways, but these plus the subs I have now will get me by until then. Soooo I guess total overkill

Nice, I really like marantz stuff but got such a good deal on the onkyo I couldn't pass it up. Had a marantz 5006 not too long ago, just sold it last week.

EV recommended it. I couldn't be happier. The amp is good and it has all the features I want/use. I got it for $577 shipped + 5 year additional warranty (refurbished).

Yep that's a good one and with the additional warranty you can't beat it.

Okay guys, just to clear things up, the picture of the two pairs of Phils and CC includes one set of custom 2s and a set of 3s. Right now, all that needs to be done is to finish sand them, stain them and shoot them. I just need to find some time since we're pushing a project through the shop right now. Thankfully, the two customers picked pretty much the same stain color and they did it independently.
Now as far as what Dennis mentioned, he came to me and said he wanted to do something a little different for a pair to take to the CAF so I suggested a 4 degree rake on the front baffle and chamfering the edges instead of rounding them over. Did a test upper box for him so he can see what, if anything it does to his xover. I think it'll look good.
I also like the Paduk veneer though I've never worked with it before. There are a lot of nice veneers out there that we're looking at.

That sounds great Del, can't wait to see what a finished products looks like.

If I could get the re-design past my wife's eyes, I'd be in good shape. The Phils are such a great value compared to everything else I've read about.

They are, believe me, 2K is a lot for speakers IMHO, but really more that in value than 2K.

Can't wait to get the center to complete my system!!!!

Your wife won't let you have just one room where you can be King?

I guess I'm lucky.

She'd probably let me have a room, but not that one. It's our main family room so I have to make a few concessions. The good new is that it gets used a lot so I can justify expenditures. She's put up with my Vandersteens for 25 years, so she's not all bad.

Hey guys, I'm noy sure if this has been covered so bare with me. At the CAF, will there be specific models of the Phil's showcased or all of them?
