Hey make your own convert to FLAC! I don't download a lot of music, my son sends me most of what I have, unless I am listening to Pandora or Grooveshark.com.

The sound is so astounding, so much that I constantly notice the nuances, (not you Brandon), in the movies, evening the streaming that I never noticed before.

Can't wait till I get the new marantz in, hopefully this one will work properly, and run audyssey properly. Even without it, I was amazed what a good match the Marantz and Phils are!!!

actually i had to disconnect center from the AVR to be really sure no sound were coming from it =)

So how's that NHT center working out for you?

I've recommended NHT to Phil and Salk owners when a matching center wasn't an option and would like to know if you think that advice is sound (no pun intended)?

Honestly I didnt like them initially , but i think after a bit of tweaking they work well. I am also thinking of getting the NHT bookshelf speaker for the center and experimenting with that (since they have 60 day return policy on Crutchfield) . I dont hear any problem with timber matching , they work like a good LCR package...I definately see a difference with Blue-ray but i think Phils do a pretty good job even without a center channel that the impact of adding a center was not that stunning atleast not with NHT twoC...

Who says I'm going to be listening to them? Maybe I'll just put them in a big glass case and stare at them forever

Hi Dennis, I've been following this thread for a while and I've been convinced that the Phil 2s would be right for me
But do you still have cabinets for the 2s? I read a few pages back that you're running low on stock. I'm hoping I'm not too late :O

I think I have enough. I've pretty much given up on the 1's, for various reasons, so I have more than enough cabinets. The issue is the baffles. Half were cut for the Founteks, which I'm not using. I ordered and received an extra set of baffles cut for the RAAL, and that should do me for about a half dozen more orders over and above the current backlog.

I've seen a couple folks here say they don't like the look of the Phils. I'm sorry, but that's a sharp looking design. Had I not found a local builder, I may well have "borrowed" (unless Dennis patented it ) both Del and that design.
With a single round grille on top of course.
YMMV

I really like how it looks as well (obvious since I ordered a pair ) but now I'm curious to see what new revisions will look like. I kinda hope I hate it, otherwise I may find myself pining for another one

You know how important aesthetics is to me.

I think the Phil's look great. Otherwise I wouldn't even consider them in the first place.

Word. It's mainly the wives that don't appreciate the design.

Yes, no way I'd get those past mine, not in our main family room anyway. I tried showing her some pictures a few times. If not, I'd have a pair of 2s or 3s on order already. I should be ok with my SCSTs.

Does anyone know the track list for the demo CD Dennis sends out?

I loaded it onto the server last night but my squeezebox just shows unknown artist, unknown title for all of the songs.

Most wives like the Bose look or even better speakers that they can't see at all. You have a pretty special wife really

Thanks for posting these Fuzz, looking good!

I'm wondering why no grilles on the custom 2's? I may have missed a memo...

Funny. I seem to have been stuck in the 'conventional' floorstanding speaker look, it was me who was leery of the design. When I showed them to my wife she thought they looked fine. Ever supportive (but never indicating an interest in my audiophile habits), she asked why it matters what they look like as long as they sound great.

I resolved my own reservations by requesting a custom finish to match existing furniture. The result, pictured above, is just beautiful.

I would like to add also, that I like the Phils they are clean, contemporary and well done.....the design is necessary to produce the wonderful, neutral sound we alllllllllll love!!!

The WAF was a problem, but in my opinion was a minor issue.... the main thing is their depth (it seems), and how they fit into a space.

It really was my wife's initial reaction "they are big", but now she is use to them.

I've seen some BIG speakers.

I LOVE the look of the Phils!

Would I rather them look like the KEF Blade? Yes, I would. Do I want to pay the extra bagillion dollars to Del? No, no I don't.

............................................................ .................................

THE SHIPPING ESCAPADE CONTINUES....

My Phils are now in Chino, CA. 1 hour from me (Chatsworth, CA) via car. Unless the FedEx truck explodes, they will be here tomorrow!

Are all (four was it?) packages in Chatsworth? Go pick em up my man, and enjoy their sweet sounds one day early!

As of 2AM, 3/4 packages show Chino, CA. All of the packages are estimated to arrive tomorrow. I'm not quite sure why one isn't listed as Chino.

It says "In transit" Chino, CA. I'd have to intercept the truck! Plus, I can't fit them on the bus. :P
