Your gloss red mahogany looks great.

I think that gloss finish is an absolute great value at only $150/pr!

Linkwitz would charge $500/pr and Funk Audio would charge $400/pr for that same gloss finish.

Not hand rubbed mirror high gloss, but still very shiny and glossy indeed.

We all like ADTG's speakers, I might have gone that route myself but couldn't figure out how to fence them in. I had a fear the dogs would think they were fire hydrants and pee on them. biggrin.gif

In my first post, this set of philharmonic 3 (posted by Dennis) is not mine and would be probably end of Aug before my cabinet is finished. I ordered the standard flat cut mahogany with red stain, no gloss. Cost is only $50 more. Apparently, the flat cut mahogany is also a standard veneer in addition to the maple or cherry on Philharmonic website. I did not pick gloss finish purely due to my personal taste and constraints (reflection).

I'm sure the new owner would be happy with the finish.

Mine is standard veneer and stained. No gloss.

I noticed that you have the B&W heavy weight, 802d. I'm curious how does it sound against philharmonic 3?

You did a nice job fuzz. I noticed that in the review section you added a lot of reviews. I think the only formal review is mine below.

Well, he who hesitates is lost. Just saw the new pricing for the model 2. With a firm $2,000 budget I'm out. The Philly 2 was a world-class bargain at $2k and still is a good deal at $3.1k. Kudos to those who jumped aboard early on (made a leap of faith) and got the China-made cabinets. Happy to see them being made in the USA, in any case, but sad to say I'm outa here.

Damned undecisiveness! That's all it was, undecisive! Ridiculous to say I've got to settle for the Ascent Towers or the Salk Songtowers but there it is. That's what it feels like, "settling for," though they're both great speakers.

Anyway, good listening to all,

Are those prices correct? I didn't realize they had all gone up... I honestly wasn't a fan of the quality of the Chinese cabinets (puts flame suit one), so I feel it's worth while paying more for a better crafted American-made one.

Nice job on the site, fuzz. One thing I noticed (and it's minor) is that the preview picture (thumbnail) of the new Philharmonic 3 is stretched vertically. Once you click for the full image it looks fine, but the smaller preview pic makes it look taller and a lot more narrow. You'd think those browsing the site would be smart enough to click the photo for a full sized image, but you never know. Just thought I'd mention it. I love the new site - fantastic job!

I can say that the Phil3 sound at least as good as the 802 Diamond.

Thanks, I'll definitely get your review up there, a little later today. (and by later today I mean right now.)

Thanks again Nuance, I know, fixing all of the stretched thumbnails are on my list. It wasn't essential to have them perfect for the original purpose of the site, but now that it is a "real" website it's on my radar to get right.

Food's not on the agenda until I make a dent in the mountain of debt gifted on my by Philharmonic Audio. But I'm not complaining--I seem to have a lot of happy owners, and that's why I got into this. After factoring in cabinet costs,
the actual price increase amounts to only $300 for me, and I wasn't even breaking even at the old prices. If any of you ever decide to embark on a project like this--be sure to factor in the "little" costs. Like packaging tape. And sorbothane
feet. And speaker wire. Who would have figured?

Haha, thanks, but I should really thank all the forum members here and on audioholics that have taken the time to look things over and get back to me about errors and issues they're having. I try to proof everything and test it on a few different browsers before I send it off into the world, but anyone who's built a website from scratch knows that theres a lot of stuff that falls through the cracks biggrin.gif

You mean that stuff doesn't just come in the "Start Your Own Speaker Company Kit" ?

Kudos on a good job!

Had I known that the Philharmonic 1's were going up from $1500 to 2500 eek.gif - I would have temporarily gone into CC debt to get some. Oh well.

It didn't make any sense to give advance warning because I'm sold out of the Chinese cabinets except for some damaged ones. If it's any consolation, the Phil 1's were actually $1600, not $1500.

Also, currently you can't pay by credit card

I knew that and should have mentioned it. I meant via cash advance.

While there was no official warning until 2-3 weeks before CAF, discussions of price increases and elimination of Chinese cabinets goes way back to May 11. Anyone following the discussion closely had plenty of advance warning.

I think they are still worth every cent and you should get a deposit in and work out with dennis and del regarding the end of the order period. Just don't invest too much on extraneous stuff like electronics.
What about the thiner-more-WAF cabinet that was mentioned a while back?

Is it faster and less expensive to make so that the cost would be $2K/pr w/ RAAL 10D & BG Neo8?

Of course, the F3 would be a lot higher than 30Hz, but most people already have subs or will be buying subs.

Actually, I did put in an order for a pair of Philharmonitors. Dennis said that he was going on vacation until the 5th and then he would start on them when he got back.

I am going to be selling my SongCenter with LCY ribbon tweeter if anyone is interested. It would probably go well with the Phils.

Charmerci, you won't regret your purchase of the Phil monitors, they will not dissappoint you, sir! smile.gif

My phils almost have a friend biggrin.gif A few more coats of danish teak oil and it'll be ready for prime time. The lighting and my camera phone make the first two pics look much more golden/yellow than it really is right now. The middle pics are a much better representation of what the coloring looks like right now.

Looks great Fuzz! This will be your new center stand? So do other items in the garage - dog food (we have 5 of the critters), mountain bike (one of my hobbies), SUV I presume? Also, above the dog food hanging on the wall, is that by chance a kayak carrier?
Looks great, fuzz! You and Nethawk have (will have) awesome looking gear, stands and rooms.

Yup, new stand should be ready by next week, just lots of rubbing and drying to do now.

Ah, not my house. It's my GF's parents house, since he helped me build it and ya know.......has all the tools. Plus their neghbor is a professional wood worker with even bigger better tools, so he made a few of the longer rips and more delicate cuts for us. However dogs, bikes, kayaks and other miscellaneous outdoor gear can all by found at my house as well. No SUV though, as much as I'd love one I need a job first, currently I'm finishing up grad school. Soon enough I suppose.
