Well, depending on the receiver you can do the same thing.

For instance with the onkyo 3009, I can turn audyssey on and off on the fly, but if it's only going to be a 2 channel setup I think the oppo would be great by itself. I would just get a small display to hook up to it to make use of the OSD, which you probably already thought of

Does anyone use Spotify? There is an app, new to me, called Classify. I've been using it lately to explore and listen to new classical music. Most of the time I prefer better audio quality for classical music and always buy on physical disk, but this is a great way of finding content and just casual listening.

Has anyone produced a list of all the songs on the demo CD that came with the speakers? I want to put this in my digital collection but not without appropriate metadata.

Fuzz, I haven't been to the website in awhile, it looks great, and I am honored to have my speakers and setup (and as an amateur photographer, my photographs!). Great work!

That looks like a great set of selections, although most aren't on my demo CD. Maybe I've lost the context of the original question--did it pertain do a different demo CD? Maybe a Salk demo?

Really? Perhaps Shazam and Soundhound lied to me. This is definitely the CD that came with my set of Phils. So what did I get?

Ok, long waiting comes to an end. Dennis told me my Phil2s were shipped and will arrive my door right before the long weekend. So I won't be boring for sure for the whole holiday. Get excited. Anyone want to share their first-day story with these toys? either honeymoon or frustration? Some of you guys may have already lived with your Phils long enough to start getting bored. Refresh your memory of first day experience will sure help you getting out of that sentiment.

Congrats. When did you send in your original check to get the wait started?

I sent in my deposit at the end of June. You know the storm and the audio show caused some delay, otherwise everything went smoothly. Actually the last couple days is the most painful waiting days as you know they are out there just inch away.

Okay all you Philharmonic customers. I just thought I owe some explanation on the time it's taking to do the cabinets. First, there was a bunch of orders from folks wanting to beat the price increase. Second, as I've said before, I do these cabinets as a side line so when the shop is busy, the cabinets wait and right now, the shop is a bit busy which is a good thing I guess. I try to do the cabinets two pair at a time and that seems to work pretty well for me. I want to thank everybody for their patience once again and hope it's all worth the wait. Here are some pics of a pair I just finished in maple with a dark stain and sunburst finish.

And Del is in no way responsible for the delay, since these were the stock 2's with the Chinese cabinets. It was just a matter of being backed up after the storm and the show. I am officially caught up as of now, and will be picking up two cabinets for the 3's from Del later this week. I also think I may be able to offer one last pair of 2's with the Chinese cabinets at the original price of $2000. I just have to make sure I'll have enough baffles cut for the RAAL instead of the Fountek. (If anyone needs a whole bunch of baffles cut for the Fountek, just lemme know. I seem to have, uh, overestimated the demand for the Phil 1's. They might make great halloween masks?)

LOL....we could have a GTG with everyone dressing as their favorite speaker.

hopefully you can use those fountek baffles for the monitor 2s i just emailed you about. looking forward to joining the crew of philharmonic audio owners, albeit on a smaller scale.

Ok. Just got a call from the wife. The Fedex guy knocked the door and handed my wife three boxes, one day ahead of the scheduled deli date. I said, wait, suppose to have 4 boxes. She asked the Fedex guy on spot. Here is what the guy said: "Oh, ya, there is another box still on the way, will come in tomorrow. Somehow they put it on another truck." Dam Fedex!!! Now what should I do with just three boxes? Funny I have scheduled tomorrow off work to stay at home waiting for the deliver. I guess now at least I have something to play with while I am waiting tomorrow. Not bad!

four boxes? what did you get? 4x phil3s? =) i just sent a deposit to dennis this morning for a pair of the monitor 2s. the amp is en route and i still need to order the oppo bdp-93. can not wait.

4 boxes = 2 top cabinet boxes and 2 lower cabinet boxes

Thus 4 boxes = 2 speakers

ahh...got it. i didn't know the phils were separate-able like that. the wait is only just beginning for me. at least it gives me time to get everything else in anticipation of receiving the speakers in a few weeks.

I'm waiting on a pair of ribbon mahogany 3's myself and can't wait for them to get here.

Most of the recent sales have been 2's. I did ship out 2 pairs of 3's recently, but they're going to the Philippines and Malaysia. On boats. So I wouldn't expect any owner pics of those real soon.

a quick wiring question for you folks - with my monitors on order with dennis, now i'm looking to get some wires for my speakers and amp. that being said, i believe i need a pair of rca cables to go from the player/converter to the amp, and then speaker wires to run from the amp to the speakers. what have you guys used? i'm particularly interested in what brand (monoprice ok?) of wires and plugs. i've exchanged messages with woodsart and he mentioned 12 gauge, and that he uses bluejeans for certain applications. i don't mean to start a debate of what's worth it and what's not - just interested in hearing about what you have used for your phils or other speakers, and what your experiences have been. thanks in advance.

I've used monoprice RCA's and speaker wire, 12 gauge. Everything works fine and the build quality is excellent. Blue jeans also makes good stuff you can't go wrong there.

I do. I use banana plugs for both the speakers and the receiver/amp. I've used monoprice banana plugs, but didn't really like them that much. I switched over to silverback banana plugs and really liked them, but didn't like how their was so much space between the wire and the silver barrel. The next plugs I try will probably be GLS banana plugs. They are the most expensive of the three mentioned, but from the looks and the specs I think they'll end up being my favorite.

Don't misunderstand me, I've never had any issues with the silverback or mono price and both work really well. I just like how the GLS combines the double screw feature of the silverback with a tighter fitting barrel.

fantastic! thanks again for the info fuzz. the shop (orange county speakers) in the second of your two links is about 20 mins away from where i live, which means right next door by southern california standards. i'll prob stop by there and just purchase everything i asked about from them - rca plugs, banaplugs, and wires. that way, i'll have someone to go back to in the event i come across any kind of issues.
