how to do audyssey setup if equipmentis more than 20 feet from seating position?

According to a customer who called them directly you cannot extend the microphone cable.

Im using in wall speakers so relocating equipment and running wires externally is not possible.

The best solution I have come up with is moving equipment rack into the theater and running speaker wire jumpers back to my wall plate. Is this acceptable or is there some other method?

That customer got bum gouge ... as the co-founder of Audyssey has indicated that the stock Audyssey mic w/25' cable can be extended up to 50' with another 25' extension cable like this one.

That's not the mic cable. That will extend the cable that connects to the AVR, but same effect as regards the problem.

Edit: Forget what I said. I thought the question was in regards to Audyssey Pro, but I see I mis-read

Unless I'm misunderstanding the OP's requirement .. he's got his equipment in a closet somewhere that is > 25' from the MLP. As long as it's not > 50' from the MLP the extension cable I suggested is all that is needed, otherwise, the AVR would have to be relocated to the theater.

I was visiting left field when I replied and thought it was Audyssey Pro that was being used. It is apparently an AVR based Audyssey and you are 100% correct.

Correct. The Pro mic uses a mini-XLR connection and can be extended well beyond 100' as it uses phantom power.

jd..
Went to their website but found no technical details for the recommended cable..
Since it is for a microphone the cable must be shielded, if not there will be significant hum which will void any setup routine..
The cost seems far too cheap. It may be fine for a loudspeaker or headphone output but not for a microphone..

Just my $0.02...

Noted. Edited post with Monoprice shielded cable.

Just want to verify that it's ok to use that stereo extension cable, even though the Audyssey mic has a monaural connector?

Thanks,
