Hi everybody.I am new to this forum. I have been a professional photographer for over 40 years. I wish to come back to video and camcorders after a long time, therefore I am not up to date with the latest gear. I use Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro, and wish to make films using both still photography and video. This is not for commercial use, however quality is everything. My budget is $3000, but do i buy a HD camera or a pro SD camera second hand. The themes for the films would be landscape.Any help would be most appreciated
Best Regards Paul Richards

if you have a budget like that you can go for a Canon XA10 or move up to the Canon XF100 which has even more manual controls. The advantage of the XA10 is that it has XLR inputs and uses SD cards. The XF100 has more customize-ability and a slew of manual controls and costs just under $3K.
The newer HD cameras are superior to the older pro cameras. most of those are tape based. tape is pretty much dead nowadays.
