IN TIME - new scifi thriller written & directed by Andrew Niccol - Page 2

I agree with those who are saying the premise makes no sense. You artificially restrict people's lifetimes just so they can "buy the years back"?? I couldn't care less how many CGI-slow-mo-sound FX trappings are wrapped around such a silly plot.

Well, I liked the trailer and it's on my 'keep an eye on' list. There have been plenty of movies with suspect plots that turned out to be worth watching.

I replaced the main post with the *Actual* trailer, that is about half the running time.

I saw this as my "Halloween Escape" movie. Though not as good as Niccol's "Lord of War" the concept of time as currency was very intriguing and mad the situation more urgent than if it were about money. This is very much a movie of our time and a "Robin Story" of sorts.

You know I enjoyed this movie. Gave you food for thought and in a way perfect timing with the who OWS going on.

I did have issues with the limit on time a normal person has. Living day to day has a whole new meaning.

Just saw this film tonight...quite possibly the biggest let down film for 2011 imho.

What do you guys think? You enjoy it somewhat? Main reason I saw it was because I've always enjoyed films Cilian Murphy has been in.

Other than Wytchone and pokekevin, did anyone else actually see this yet?
I really wanted more people to see this. It was the perfect release with Occupy Wall Street and the movie theme. Hopefully it will be on DvD soon and we will get more comments.

I forget netflix does the whole "1 month" wait on blu ray wait release
2/28/12

I'm on the netflix "schedule" now so 2/28 is looking so far away right now. I love these type of films, the futuristic issue of death/birth control or post apocalyptic films are in short supply in the Hollywood back burner I guess because box office #'s but I hope more can be made. Despite the cast of Miss goldfish eyeball and boyband wonder bar.

If sci-fi plots made sense, they would be called 'Action/Adventure' or 'Drama'.

So true, but sometimes it is so contrived and thrown in with infinite back doors and events coming out of nowhere like Inception and Source code that's where I have to draw the line and say... whoa too much BS. And of course for some it's more or less which is why we have YMMV.

Just finished the regular dvd version.

Like Ralph in the BR thread, Olivia should have been the lead rather than Amanda. Murphy is a great actor, much better than the singer-actor. I did not buy the story but love the classic cars.

Rental only, nothing more.

Wait!
Classic cars + Amanda + Olivia = Bad?
Olivia only got maybe 5 minutes? = BAD. Hate Amanda's wig.

Love the old Lincolns.

I believe half of Olivia Wilde's screentime was shown in the trailer.

Not all woman look good with short hair....and not all woman look good with long hair.

Of course, too many woman don't look good at all.

And some women cut their hair short to signal an abrupt end of your relationship. This is often accompanied by the sudden arrival of a small irritating pet she knows you will hate.

Watched this last night. I was entertained, but yet disappointed since I had high hopes for it.

I thought it was a decent concept, and I liked the "Robin Hood" aspect, but just didn't think the execution was up to snuff. I liked the entire world with the retro cars and clothes and time zones as well.

But what really got me was the complete lack of security around the "time-trading." I can suspend my disbelief a bit, but it was the equivalent of carrying around a flashing neon sign with how much money is in your bank account and all someone has to do to empty your account is grab your wrist.

Also, the BD was bare bones from Netflix. Was not marked as "rental" but I am assuming that it was.

Loved the 1st hour, it was fresh and intriguing in the realm of Limitless so I was drawn to it right away. The performances were decent, JT is shaping up to be quite an action hero if he wants to be and IMO can fill the roles Matt damon and Tom Cruise took in their young careers. I also like that guy who played the millionaire dad, even though I've never seen him before he got into his role so really no complaints here.

BUT the this film ran out of legs, either that or the writer just got lazy and said the hell with it I'm taking a vacation. Great premise and concept but if you don't back it up with some groundwork, foundation, and continuity it will fall in the end which if you see it you know what I mean. One of the most stupidest ending ever...the writer or director should be punched in the face for it. Overall, I would recommend it..still entertaining.

Yeah feel the same way zoey. Very good the first hour then it sort of lost it.
Wish they explained how people changed to stop aging at 25. Do babies get born the same way or just made?

Still enjoyed watching it again for the 2nd time.

That is the only real complaint I have about the movie (and one I can overlook)...
Other than that, this was a dandy sci-fi.

Suspenseful, with a very fine performance by Timberlake.
I'm sorry, but this kid can act...he continues to show chops.
Agreed on Timberlake. I personally don't like his music, but the guy is talented all around, and he's continued to impress me in his acting roles.

I tell you what, I'm not a huge fan of his music, but I'll certainly take what he does now over the boy band stuff he did before. Sexyback is actually a decent dance tune.

I'm really not a fan of his music either but I really like his "Lovestoned/I think that she knows". I have seen Alpha Dog, Friends With Benefits, Bad Teacher and In Time with him; now I'll always looking forward to his next films cause I really like JT 'the actor'... He can act and so far I think he has always given an honest and sometimes more than decent performance in his films. He's a smart guy.
