Official Samsung UNXXD7900 Owner's Thread

After posting for about a week in the UNXXD8000 thread, I realized that I was the only one (as far as I could tell) with d7900 set even though its supposed to be the same tv. Then, I realized many people are having picture uniformity problems with their d8000 sets. Not only that, it seems to be happening only to people whose sets where manufactured before a certain date. Therefore, I figured, its a possibility that since manufacturing logistics come into play when making a d7900 model, the known issue going on with the D8000 may affect us D7900 owners differently or perhaps not at all.
Hopefully this thread is a good idea after all. I hope it picks up.

I m gonna keep the first post simple for now. If this thread picks up, and its members want me to, I will make it nice and cool.

I looked at Samsung's website more closely, and they point out no significant difference between the D7900 and the D8000. All the text under the features tab of each tv is the same. The only difference:
D8000 is portrayed as having a swivel stand, chrome bezel, and the ultra thin bezel feature. The D7900 is not portrayed as such, however, we already know that it does have a swivel stand and the ultra thin bezel anyway

you have both a d7000 and a d79000?

I am now even more convinced that this thread should exist, I ll do my best to keep it going until it picks up. I mean what about firmware updates? there is not telling if a firmware update on a d8000 set will have anything to do with our sets...

That is what I have been able to gather so far. But because of the fact it is still a different model number, there is no telling if Samsung will be rolling out identical firmware updates to both sets. Also, in the D8000 thread, there is a lot of people who are having some defective panels..but I have not confirmed if this is also happening to D7900 owners.

so how many D7900 owners are having as many or all of the same problems as the D8000 owners? that would be very interesting to know...

are you having issues in both or just one of your units? I have not seen any problems on my set as of yet
