This build is really in dire need of having the projector hung. Hopefully that would slow down your progress to the point that I could actually keep up with this thread! Really amazed at your quick progress. Last week I spent nearly every spare minute I could find on my theater and it looks pretty much the same as it did at the beginning of the week. Working on the star ceiling and it is tedious work.
I saw your star ceiling construction... I'm jealous! I'm also too lazy to do it myself... and running out of cash, so, there's that. Haha.
But really, most weeks feel like that. You work so much and there is not a lot to show for it. Some things, like putting in the door jams, took us a lot of time but doesn't visually translate to a whole lot. BIG spends hours ripping MDF and making frames, but after he is done, they just look like a stack of wood. Until they get painted, and assembled, glued, nailed, stuffed, covered, and hung... THEN you get the big reveal. But until this weekend even the finished red panels were leaning against a wall in storage. There were several weekends where we would do a lot of work and yet I still felt at the end like it was taking so much longer than the time really felt like. Certain things though are big payoffs. The stage/riser, The Drywall, The light tray, The Columns, and now the Panels. Between those things, there is a lot of visual downtime. We have been very fortunate so far with time. Things have been flying. Our planning and progress has been good. I'm so thankful I had someone like BIG to help me with this project.
I really liked the carpet when we saw it in Home Depot. It was a huge sample. Like 16" wide by 36" long. Looked the same color black as my faded black leather jacket, but not as black as BIGs black T-shirt. Along with the gray highlights, the black chairs would still stand out. Though I worry just a little of the pattern being distracting. I worry about everything!
