Help removing VESA Mount adapter from Samsung T260HD

Thread Starter
I have a 26" Samsung T260HD TV/Monitor that I have mounted on the wall using the proprietary Samsung VESA adapter that slips into the same slot on the bottom where the stand comes out of, it then bolts onto a standard VESA mount. I need to remove the adapter and put the stand back on. I cannot figure it out, the stand originally came off very easily, but the adapter just doesn't want to come off.

I know the answer would have to be from someone thats already gone through this to understand the problem. Please don't tell me to get a bigger hammer, I'm very tempted to do just that!

I've seen this question asked several times on other sites, but no answers yet.

Any help would be appreciated

Sorry for dragging up an old post, but I hope this helps anyone else with the same issue...

I had the exact same problem, and originally came here looking for an answer myself. After finally giving up on finding an answer anywhere I searched, I just went for it, and was able to get it off.

I took an old membership card that is approximately the same thickness as a credit card, and cut it into a 1" strip. You could probably use an old credit card also, but make sure you use the top portion of the card with no embossed letters, etc.

On the bottom of the monitor, there is a small slot between the monitor and the VESA mount bracket. I slid the card in approximately 2 1/2 inches until it engaged the "button" that secures the mount inside the monitor.

I then had to force the card in another 3/8 of an inch or so to depress the button, which released the mount. When I say I had to force it in, I mean I had to use a pair of pliers and wiggle it back and forth to get it in there.

I then tried to pull the mount off, but it still wouldn't budge. I think this was because the card was now wedged in there. I ended up taking a rubber mallet and tapped on the top of the mount a few times. That was enough to get it moving, and I was then able to pull it out of the monitor.

Hey, just wanted to say thank you for that post. I made the mistake of attaching that Vesa mount and was ready to take the whole monitor apart to remove it!
