Samsung 57" DLP Panel or DMD board issue?

Hello! I've been poking at this website for day's now, which seems to have an abundance of information, however, I'm having problems identifying an issue I'm experiencing.

I cannot find troubleshooting information related to an issue I have with my Samsung LED 57" HLS4579. I've been able to identify that the issue in the picture below is becuase of a bad "DMD board," however, I'm really trying to find out if it's the actual board or the DLP panel/chip?

Any suggestions on the issue or more info would be much appreciated.

The following picture shows what happens after a couple minutes of the TV being on. Additionally, the TV "strobes" white the entire time it's on.

I have taken apart the light engine and actually had the DLP panel out of the board to see if there's any obvious issues, which none were found. I did notice that the heat sink thermal tape was barely on the chip and mainly stuck between the mount and the chip....not providing good cooling coverage.

The reason why I want to know whether it's the panel or the board is that I can get both individually, which could make this repair $ or $$$$.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!!!

I would doubt that was the DLP chip. But issues like that can be very difficult to troubleshoot.

I would actually scope the video going to the DMD to see if that has the problem.

Good luck,
Jim
