Hi!
Is it possible to connect Apple TV (3 gen) to Onkyo TX-NR1009? To watch video on a projector.
Is there any solution?
thanks.

I dont have AppleTV yet, so I just want to know if there's any obstacle. So I just connect apple Tv to HDMI Onkyo and that's it? Without any specific connectors?

Yes, just HDMI to the 1009.

Just got a new Anthem PVA 7 and I'm wanting to know how to biamp my front speakers using my Onkyo TX-NR1009 as a pre amp. I get where to plug the amp to the back of the Onkyo like front, center, surround but don't get where to plug in to biamp the fronts all that left is SB/FW and FH/FW. It says nothing about it in the operating manual for the amp and is confusing in the Onkyo manual. there is 7 channels on this amp so it should be possible?

Thanks:confused:

Help with zones

You've helped some guys out with onkyo questions so I'm wondering if you can help me. I have a tx-nr1009 running a 7.1 setup inside my living room. No biamping, no high or wide.

I want to runs some speakers out side. 1) can I do this without loosing the inside 7.1? 2) can the zone 2, run off the receivers power and play a HDMI source? My thought is that we use the Apple TV or media server to stream music / control music. It's all connected over HDMI. I know a few years ago zone 2 / were analog only. 3) any advantage to using a separate amplifier vs the built in power if I never plan to use high / wide speakers

I just started getting no picture or sound from the hdmi main output. The hdmi sub output works. This happened once before and a firmware update fixed the problem, but it says the firmware is up to date. Any thoughts? I have the input resolution on source, but have tried others, with no luck. Thanks

Is there a switch in the settings for the power for the USB on the rear? I have a fan hooked up to mine, and it use to shut off when I turned the reciever off, but now the fan stays on all the time. Any ideas? I thought maybe I had the reciever on standby mode and maybe that did it, but couldn't find that setting either?

Thanks very much. That fixed it. Is this expected behavior or does it signal something about to fail?

I don't think you can use 7.1 in main rooms with zone 2 active. It always drops main room to 5.1 when turning them on. I bought the 1009 specifically to do what you are trying but found out later that it couldn't be configured. I haven't tried the external amp route yet but that might work.

Keep us posted if you figure it out.

The following is extracted from page 66 of the 1009 user manual. Not sure if it helps.

Running and out board amp you would use a y splitter out of the 1009 from the L/R pre-amp section and hook it up to 2 channels of you amp for one speaker, Then you would run the 2 sets of speaker wire to your L/R speakers. Also make sure you remove the jumpers on your speaker. The manual only tells you how to do it with out external amps.

Just thought of something you may be able to use the rear surround pre-outs to hook up the other channel with out a y splitter. Most 7. receviers use the rear surround backs for the other outter output if just using the recevier in a 5. mode and bi-amping the front. You have to go into the menu and tell the 1009 you want to use the rear surround to bi-amp the front. I don't own the new Onkyo yet but am getting ready to order a 1010 this week so I don't know enough about their menus to tell you how to do it with a 1009.
