Spartacus: Vengeance on Starz

With the full length trailer now shown and distributed it's time for the next season of Spartacus to have its own thread.

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/07/30/sp...son-2-trailer/

I've seen the trailer and it looks interesting. The new Spartacus has some big shoes to fill but I'll bet he's up to the challenge.

Is it better to buy the first season on blu or use on demand? Pq?

Can't wait to see the return of Gannicus as well. A throw-down between him and Spartacus would be interesting.

On Demand HD looked pretty good to me, but it won't beat BD ..

This can't start fast enough for me!

I gave my brother season 1 & 2 on blu-ray for X-mas and he got so addicted he did day-long marathons of watching them.

When I first found out about Spartacus, we ended up doing a marathon watch on NF .. on my 65" set, I thought it looked pretty good ...

^^
Big thumbs up for both Spartacus series. Definitely not family fare, tho

Very unfortunate for fans that Andy Whitfield didn't survive his cancer to continue, since he did a great job in the role. I know I've read the actor who's replacing him but can't recall the name

I look forward to more of this show. As crude, graphic as it was, it was still very well acted.

NF is how I first found out about the show (never paid for starz). I regret watching this the first time in compressed SD (starz is the worst looking stuff on netflix). I will watch in HD this year..... hoping it will be available on vudu or xbox the day after and I will just buy the season pass (they do have the previous seasons).

Ditto (except on a 50" set). It's even SD if I remember right, but looked really good (a lot better than your typical Starz stuff).

I suppose this new season won't be available on NF. Well, let me just call my provider and subscribe to Sta....haha....I can't even finish that without laughing.

^^Nope...the contract with Starz ends in Feb, so Vengeance won't be available on Instant Watch.
My introduction to Spartacus was buying season 1 on blu ray, as a blind buy. I will say the show is awesome on blu ray.

I actually did subscribe to STARZ after they had a free preview of the first 2 episodes OnDemand. I got hooked on the show, and have had STARZ ever since. Their psychology obviously worked on me.

I discovered this show via Netflix streaming. The first two episodes were not so good but by episode three I was hooked.Spartacus:Blood and Sand eventually became must see tv for me which I never would have guessed would happen. Spartacus:Vengence and Alcatraz are the two series I'm most looking forward to.

Did anyone watch the 'advanced' look at Spartacus Vengeance ? It's a 6 minute extended preview, which covers a fight between Spartacus and a few of the other gladiators. What do you guys think of his fighting ability ? I'll be looking closely at this, because at the end of Spartacus S1, he was (for me) clearly the most skilled gladiator. So if they dumb down his skills in the second season I will be disappointed. I would be interested to hear what you guys think of his fighting ability in the extended preview.

Gannicus, Crixus and Spartacus all have clearly shown they are the most skilled glads depending on where they were in the story...and it's all based on the choreographed fight scenes. They are made to look that way. So I see no reason that the new actor wouldn't be able to pull it off since that's how it's staged. I've watched the trailers, but not the 6M preview, but I don't know how anyone could tell anything from cutscenes.

How about all 56 minutes of the first episode and 1 minute of "this season on ..."?

Starz has released it to On Demand, so it should be showing up on systems soon.

I've only watched pieces of it. Blood and guts from the very beginning

They've also added a dedication to Andy at the end.

I need to watch the BD release of the first season before diving into the new season.

Am I the only one who really enjoyed Spartacus Blood and Sand in every way except for the majority of the gladiator fighting? I find the 300 movie style of photography really hard to watch because it is so comic book like in nature. I sometimes found myself wanting to fast forward through the gladiator fighting scenes to get back to the plot.

Anyway, looking forward to the new season.

The early part of the first season is like that. It gets better as the season progresses. I thought the same thing when it first aired and didn't watch it. It wasn't until after I saw the second season that I went back and watched the first season.

Not sure if anyone picked this up but I found something strange in that 4 minute fight scene. If you watch at around 2:54-2:55 you see the guy isn't even fighting Spartacus, not sure what on earth was going on there. He was waving his hand at Spartacus while doing nothing with his sword. Odd. Also, Spartacus' sword did not even clash when it was clear as day that it hit.

I hope this isn't some unfinished effect. What do you guys think ? I was thinking how the fight was impressive, then on further inspection realise it's actually very poorly done.

No idea. I don't do torrents.

I totally missed the second (prequel) season. Is it available on-line anywhere? I didn't see it on Netflix streaming. Nice to hear from some of you that it was good. I'll have to keep an eye out for reruns of it on Starz.

I think NF and Starz "broke up" at the beginning of this year. They have Blood and Sand, but no Gods of the Arena. Amazon has Gods of the Arena for streaming/download. The BD is only $24. You won't get that type of PQ on cable or streaming. I bought it just to rewatch.

I just Canceled HBO - ST - CM with TWC here in NYC but kept
STARZ for the new season of Spartacus.

How much does a Starz season pass go for on Xbox ?

Thanks
