Thanks guys.

It was a good episode. It was nice to see Gannicus back.
Still can't get used to the new Spartacus. He just doesn't fit the part.

I agree, but maybe it's the story line too. So far, he's been chasing Crixus' girlfriend until this most recent episode.

One other thing the show is missing is the comedic value of Quintus. I know he wasn't funny per-say, but some of his lines were classic. John Hannah reveled in his character.

The whole 'love story' between Crixus and Navia is ridiculous. She aint even that good looking. Too much trouble and time.
These secondary 'love stores' are terrible.
I don't think that Spartacus's real army acted like this.

Its been on going since season 1. Can't get rid of it now because the changed the actress.

Lots of action and death last episode. Things did "heat" up for all

Your right, it was the best episode so far, and things are picking up, but now there's another 'love story' between the two dudes in Spartacus's army.
What's up with that?
I don't think Spartacus's real army went around kissing each other on the lips.

Well season 1 had 2 guy love story. Guess they felt they needed to and in another? Maybe it flows like season 1 does to bring the story along.

I understand the 'love story' between Baka (?) and the other dude, they were locked up together, kinda like a prison love. But now there's no excuse for it.
I'm not knocking it, but it doesn't fit into the story this season. It doesn't make sense.

No it does not make sense now. I'm hoping it does.

Awesome episode!

Lots of action in this one, 2 high ranking romans dead, liked the part the old man bit the dust.. now the "evil" Ilithyia can't divorce his husband.. muahaha take that...

Well Spartacus rescued his buddies, but at what cost? they surely killed and wounded many civilians/citizens on the arena, well they also wanted him dead so..

He knew he was going to fight. One of the other gladiators asked him before the match why he took on the job of executing his old gladiator friends and he said it was because he wanted to make sure they got a respectful death that a gladiator deserves.

No, remember Spartacus at the gate dressed as a Roman soldier saw the "B" brand on Gannicus' arm. I believe he questioned Gannicus about why he would want to fight his former brothers or something to that affect. Yeah, I knew he was looking for extra money but still seemed to not fit. But again, I am sure this will be further explored this week.

But I didn't think he knew Oenomaus, and Crixus, would be among them ahead of time. That would be much different than some anonymous gladiators. Agreed?

Best part was the second half, then it really took off.

Even though you could see everything coming a mile away, an excellent second half of the episode. Gannicus rocks.

You may be right. I don't think they really gave us enough info in the show to know one way or another if he knew exactly who he'd be fighting. I just assumed by his comments that he did.

- Why not? The Romans didn't have the same views on sexuality that the modern Western world does.

Compared to Crixus and Gannicus he looks like Napoleon Dynamite.

Yep. Roman culture was pretty open about this sort of thing, which is why it doesn't bother me at all.

I rewatched it, and you guys were right. He did aparently know before entering the arena who he would be matched with.

Apologies.

I always assumed that he knew. I figured he wanted to go against Oenomaus and actually hoped he might lose. Seemed like he was really depressed/down on his luck. Like the death of Oenomaus' wife and his betrayal of his best friend had ruined his life and he wanted punished for it, but only thought Oenomaus was worthy of it.

I mourn the loss of Andy Whitfield.

Next episode it's Gannicus vs Spartacus !
Just caught up last night after trying again after episode 1 and 2. Finally getting somewhere now!

If I recall correctly, Gannicus didn't fight the "Shadow of Death", Oenomeus barely survived and Spartacus defeated him, so I think Spartacus is better than Gannicus..

Heck Gannicus couldn't kill Oenomeus with 2 swords Vs 1 wimpy sword and shackles.
