You probly lost internet connection, try doing the software update again. I've had that happen before too, I just redid the software download and everything works fine.

when I redid mine, it restarted the download where it stopped (in the middle) and finished with no problem.

Eternal Update Mode - When you hit the [home] button, the Premium Panel continuously displays updating? If this is correct you can recover as follows -

Setup-->Support-->Initialization of Premium

Yes. Cinema3D reports that he has substantially reduced the flashlighting on his unit after adjusting the forces on his 55LW980S panel - here

I guess we'll all find out. I was set on buying LHX on Halloween, aw man.

Stay focused on the 55LHX. The 55LW7700 was withdrawn before it was released.

My wiring is as such: The SA4250HD cable box output is going into HDMI port 1 on the TV. My DVD/VCR recorder is going into the TV using HDMI port 2. Then, the TV's optical out is going to my LG LHB536 home theater. Why, when I use the Cablevision SA4250HD box and an HDMI cable to my TV do I get just PCM2 sound going into the home theater? When I use my DVD/VCR recorder hooked up the same way using HDMI cable I DO get Dolby Digital sound? So its not the tv. I did the menu / setting change in the SA4250HD menu to try to select Dolby, but when Dolby is chosen, No sound at all goes out thru HDMI. The only choices are HDMI, Dolby, and "other". "Other" also does not allow any sound through to the tv using HDMI cable. I must be doing something wrong or do I have a bad cable box? Is there something different coming out of my cable box compared to the DVD/VCR recorder? Any advice? Would the AC3 EDID procedure help? If so, can someone please send me the step by step procedure using a service remote? Thank you.

Have you tried connecting the SA4250HD's optical out (set for DD) directly to your LHB536? That should work.

As I recall, AC3 off of the LX9500 was an open issue. Check the owner's thread.

I did the update and the good news is that the 3D is intact. The bad news is that the update has made changes to the Netflix interface. The first time I opened Netflix I was required to input my username and password before I was granted access. However, there are some glitches. I was not able to access the "back" button to leave a synopsis screen. The motion remote works while a movie is playing but is not fully implemented on the screens prior to playing a movie. I had to go to the "Home" screen to get out of Netflix after reviewing a synopsis. The motion remote cursor was not available and the buttons on the motion remote would not take me there.

If it is useful to you, you now have the option to enable 2D - 3D and manipulate the 3D options without leaving Netflix.

I sure wish that there was some way to find out what LG puts in these updates????

Thanks for all the advice. I was able to force stop it as nony suggested, and then tried update again. It worked this time. Thanks! Yeah, it looks like update to netflix was the update. Anything else this update did?

HSN must still have some of these dribbling in, or they're refurbs from the smashed ones being received back?

Just in, Forum Member down at Frys to preview the new LG 55LW9800 - the Blacks suck compared to the 55LHX, 55LH90 and 55LV9500! Is CNET correct about this set? What is LG thinking? (Plus, Local Dimming shuts off while watching 3D?) Maybe it takes a little time for this set to break in?

Surprised at your negatvivity toward LG. I guess I'm a LG fan, but I also love Sony and the new Elite.

Not saying the LW9800 is a great set as I have not seen it but I do Know Frys is the worst place to judge a TV.

If these early reports are true LG has taken a 3 steps backwards leaving people the choice between an LHX, 929 or if your rich the Elite.

Come on LG, don't do what Sharp did they took 5 years to make a comeback.

Looks like they have 2 in stock. Still $1999, though. I liked the price we got!

I reported earlier that I could not access the "Back" button on some Netflix screens after the latest FW update. I am happy to report that upon a reboot, that issue is resolved. Unfortunately, another problem has developed. When watching a show, the motion remote cursor never goes away. I just watched a two hour movie and the cursor never disappeared. For it to be less distracting, I moved the cursor to a lower corner of the screen - and there it sits! For the record, I was not moving the remote control and it was motionless on a table. I guess I should just be happy that the on-screen control buttons weren't part of the movie too. By the way, a reboot did not solve the problem.

The motion remote eats batteries as is. I wonder if the "unending cursor" exacerbates that problem????

Signed: Eagerly awaiting the next update!

I checked mine and it works fine. I never really use the motion remote, kind of a gimmick.

Thanks videkid for taking the time. I use the motion remote only for Netflix with the sound played through the TV speakers. I use the remote from my receiver for all other home theater and TV viewing. But, I do like the motion remote. I find that the cursor method is much quicker for navigating the input, setup, and app menus.

I've been spending some more time with the cursor problem and find that this problem, at least for me, is intermittent. When it finally worked properly, it was preceded by a search of the "option" choices to see what was new. Of course there is no control over the cursor under "options," but it leads me to suspect that it was this manipulation that led to the correct functioning of the cursor. I will continue to try to pinpoint what specific actions, if any, result in the Firmware (FW) operating properly. It may even be a random error that is dependent on how the Netflix program loads. This just troubles me that I now have two intermittent problems to deal with that I did not have before. I do hope that the FW update is more stable on the majority of panels.

On a positive note, I do like the new implementation of Netflix as there is now parameter control while a movie is playing. Previously, to make any adjustments, you had to exit Netflix and open Setup. Better yet, you can now see the changes you make in real-time as the movie continues to play in the background. Also, the "search" mode is much easier to control. Lastly, the larger icons of the available movies in the opening Netflix screen seem a little bit too large and, consequently, fewer images are displayed. Maybe it is intentional for those with smaller screens to read the names on the movie artwork????

Question: If the instability of this FW update is specific to my panel and possibly (?) the result of a corrupted download, is there a procedure to delete (for lack of a better term) my current operating system and download the latest FW again? I know the procedure for reverting to the previous operating system, but I don't know if reverting will trigger an all new download from the LG server of the latest FW or will it just reinitialize the FW from the panel's internal memory (possibly stored as the previous FW version).

I assume HSN made LG conceed to continuing FW improvements during the 1 year of Warranty, as part of their deal?

I was right! If I watch a Netflix movie and do not access the "options" menu, the cursor stays on the screen for the entire session. If I click on "options" and then immediately close the "options" screen (or select/manipulate any choices within the "options" menu and then close) , the cursor disappears, as it should, along with the on-screen buttons. As long as the "options" menu was selected and closed, the cursor will function normally throughout the session. Using the other on-screen controls, the "search" buttons for example, will not correct the "unending cursor" problem.

So far I have not been able to duplicate the problem of the "back" button being inaccessible. Maybe it was just a random code loading error that was corrected after a reboot. Is anyone else experiencing these problems with Netflix?

The following was provided to me by KONICA TECH to achieve better black levels and it has worked out well for me. These are for the white balance adjustment for the warm color temperature only in the service menu. Just make the changes and exit, no in-stop needed. This adjustment takes the blue out of the blacks. Once I made the changes I needed to adjust the contrast up to 93 per the built-in template.

Thanks KONICA TECH for working overtime to help the rest of us achieve the best performance. These settings would most likely work for the LW9800 also.

Red Gain 192
Green G 140
Blue G 124
Red cut 64
Green c 63
Blue c 64

Glad they are working for you. But I would not even think about trying these in a differant model with a differant panel, may not even work with all LV9500's. These just may be closer for some that they may want to try. Always copy your original settings so you can revert back to them, as the reset will not give you the originals.

Anyone else have trouble with getting updates? I declined a update because I wanted to do it later on, but now I am unable to get it back.

I have tried disconnecting and connecting network connection, changing network settings, turning updates on/off, waiting a a couple of days to see if it reappear, etc etc. Also downloaded the update and put on a usb thumb drive, but it dosnt run from being the root of it or in a folder "LG_TDV".

(Also previously when I do search for a updatem it said none available but I knew there was some, 10 minutes after searching the propmpt popped up telling me.)

Folder should be LG_DTV.

And some people wanted to sell off their Service Remotes after turning the 3D and THX modes on! Also, did they ever think that sometime down the road, their sets might get reset, then they have to re-activate the 3D and THX again?
I sold mine. I made sure to learn the important functions to my universal remote first, just in case.
Arkasi55 - did you ever manage to activate 3d on the LW9500?
Activating the 3D is fine, unfortunately i've not been able to get glasses to sync.
I have tweeked KONICA TECH's white balance settings slightly.

Red Gain. 192
Green. 152
Blue. 124
Red cut. 64
Green cut. 64
Blue cut. 64

These are for the white balance warm settings in the service menu. I have also brought brightness to 45 and Contrast to 93. These settings may not work for everyone but are bringing me excellent results. Of course for the above settings to be used you must then use the warm color temperature.
I noticed a few days ago that HSN no longer lists the LV9500. It used to be listed on the TVs->LG page (albeit sold out), but now it doesn't appear to be anywhere and is inaccessible other than by direct link. Seems like the trickling has finished.
This is a question aimed at arkasi55. I recently bought the 55lw9500 and live in Aus as well I was sure they had the same tv in 3d as well. I could be wrong was only $500 dearer but i wasn't that interested in 3d so didn't take much notice and of course i have only just recently discovered this forum. They had it for an unbeatable price at JB hifi. It won me with the best picture quality over more expensive units. So enough rambling the question is if I did see a 3d Lw9500 do you think whetever 3d glasses work on that may work on ours? Also is it worth getting hold of a lg service remote or its equal even if we can't get glasses to work purely for more advanced settings? thanks for any advice in advance
