Hey Guys
I have a 55LW9500 purchased in Australia. This model is released in US as a 3D but disabled in Australia.

i have tried the instructions posted on this website

and i am able to get the 3d function enable on my tv 55LW9500. So in the TV menu the 3D function shows
How ever when trying the 3D it does not seem to work
i am using the AG-S250 glasses and have tried several movies. but i get no 3d effect.
i can see the red shadow which i would think is the 3d effect. i have tried playing the movies from the USB and also from the media centre within lg tv plex

Does any one have same TV and was able to get the 3D to work?

is there another post that tells more about how one can turn the LW9500 tv into 3d?

please any help would be much appreciated

The procedure is as follows.

1. Activate the glasses and go through the sync process.
2. Power cycle the tv
3. Go back into 3D mode

The glasses will then go through 3 cycles, 2 different shades of 3d and then 2D, this will happen for about 15 seconds then it looses connectivity all together.

It feels like the glasses are trying multiple ports or frequency to sync then they loose connectivity. This only happens during the power cycle. Trying to disabling and enabling the glasses does nothing unless you repeat the process.

Hope that helps or can shed some light.

That sounds like strange behavior. Why should you have to power cycle your set if it is putting out a good sync signal in 3D mode? Upon losing sync, it should be sufficient to press and hold the enable button on the glasses for 2 seconds, then release to get the 2 LED blinks (this turns off the glasses) and then press down momentarily to reengage the glasses. At what point after a power cycle are you going back into 3D mode, and what 3D mode are you selecting?

Also, try to repeat the behavior by toggling 3D mode - exit 3D mode, and go back in again, without cycling power.

Have you tried to disable your WiFi?
You could go into option 62 from ORG MAIN and select 0x03:Unload WiFi Driver Module. [To restore later, select 0x02: Load WIFI Driver Module(43236) or reboot].

I have a spot in the middle of my screen that's darker than the rest of the screen. You can really see it during bright scenes, it's about the size of a dime. Is this a bad LED bulb or a dead pixel or something?

Not normal, more than likely a couple of LED's not lighting. I would have a tech look at it under warranty for repair. Dead pixels would be completely dark.

This is a great deal for anyone who is not set on passive 3D. Some very picky forum members have been very happy with their LV9500 purchase.

This is a winner for any LX9500 fans who could not handle the banding.

Could be refurbs fron HSN returns? HSN stated they had the exclusive on this model, and it was made especially for them.

I'm pretty sure HSN will say anything to make a sale. Although it was exclusive to them up until now. Buy.com lists these as new.

How hard can it be?

Thanks to everyone for sharing your expertise here. Today I pulled the trigger on the 55LV9500 from buy.com. I was looking for a quality 2D set - the 3D possibility is the icing on the cake! After reading this post, and considering that I'm a complete noob, am I missing anything here? My next steps:

1) purchase a lg service remote part number Part # 105-201M
2) purchase LG AG-S250 3D Active Shutter Glasses for 2011 LG 3D Plasma HDTVs
3) follow the instructions in post 473 to enable 3D

Provided I *can* follow instructions, how much of a possibility is it that I will inadvertently brick my new TV?

Any other suggestions now that this set has been out for a while? Thanks!

I am very happy for you. I know some think I work for LG but I truely just love this TV and the value it is at the price we paid.

I could have purchased a 55VT30 for $1,300 and passed on it because I like my LV9500 so much. If you take away the 3D I would still love this set. This set just has balance, it dose everything very good to great and has no area it fails. No DSE, banding or clouding, no negatives.

Another way to access the set without the LG service remote is to get a RCA all in one and reprogram the remote. Here's how (at least it worked for me):

I finally found the code that worked with my RCA RCPB05B to get it to communicate with this TV. You need this code to get your remote to communicate with the LG TV before you program the remote to act as a service remote. The device code was 1423. (BTW, if it doesn't work for you, you can try 1748 or 1331, which probably work as well) How do you get it to work? Here's how:

1. Push "TV" button on RCA remote
2. Push and hold "setup" button until light blinks 2x on remote.
3. Enter code 1423. The light on remote should blink 2x now.
4. Push "TV" button on remote and then power to confirm it will turn off and on power. If it does, you are good to go. If not try one of these other codes (any of these may work, some did for me, some did not: 0030, 0178, 0856, 1178, 1240, 1283, 1325, 1331, 1423, 1748, 1749, 1758, 1768, 2138) As an FYI, I couldn't get my RCA remote to control any other functions other than power, so this code may not be the best choice, but at least it worked to do service menu.
5. I then proceedded with this procedure:

For Newer remotes which uses 5 digit EFCs (which this RCA remote does use 5 digit codes)
1. EZ-Adjust = 00018 (I only programmed Ez adjust and IN-stop)
2. IN-Start = 00019
3. POWER-ONLY = 00014
4. IN-Stop = 00015

Procedure
1. Press the device key (TV, VCR, SAT, CD, AUD or DVD).
2. Press and hold the MAGIC (aka "setup") key until the device keys blinks twice (the device key will blink once then twice).
3. Press 9 9 4. The device key will blink twice.
4. Press the MAGIC ("setup") key once.
5. Enter the 3-digit (or 5-digit) EFC code (see above)
6. Press the key to which the function will be assigned. The device key will blink twice.

At this point I was able to access the service menu. When you push "EZ-Adjust", it asks for a password that others have mentioned before. Enter 0413 and you are good to go.

Tried all this with no success, i'm currently on version 4.03.13. Perhaps the problem is that i can't change from Release to debug in the In-Start menu.

Any ideas on how to enable the debug option? Also i have no SH option.

Seth2010, you really need to be more specific, so that others can try to replicate your trials.

Kindly answer my revised questions to you in post #1355 above. Also, you haven't reported the detailed results of test1. Do you have a magic motion remote to test with?

To change to DEBUG StatusMode from RELEASE, you should write a 0x3 at address 0x186 as detailed below, but only attempt this if the current value at address 0x186 is 0x5, so do a read byte first to verify this.

This is the process i'm following and i hope it answers some of your questions.


Ok, here is a detailed procedure that I am following.

1. 3D menus are enabled and working.

2. I can only try 2D to 3D or Side by side 3D on ESPNS 3D channel.

3. Glasses wont sync, sometimes I will get flickering, the reboot method is hit and miss and so far I haven't been able to find a procedure to get them flickering.

4. Next I connect using putty or tera term.

8. Doing a read for port 128, 130 and 131 retuns “0” on all.

9. I try to write:

10. I repeat the process for both port 130 and 131 but when reading back the value it still reports as “0”
The MMR report always works regardless of what value I try to input.

So at the moment I can’t complete Test 1, in Release mode or debug mode, not sure how to register the input on the GPIO table.

Looks like you have completed test1, but not as specified above. Don't attempt to read back the ports.

Keep in mind that if ports 128, 130, and 131 are registered by the system software as outputs, you cannot do a read on them, and if you do, the data returned will be bogus, and as you noticed, you will get back a warning.

The purpose of this test is to prove that these ports have physical continuity to the emitter. Writing a "1" to any of these ports should temporarily disable your magic motion remote if there is continuity. When the mmr is disabled, you will not be able to get a cursor when you hit the [enter] button.

It seems I don't have continuity on these ports. Writing a value of 1 never disables the mmr.

I can however disable the mmr by going into option j2 in the org menu and activating the 3D FP Emitter Start, this however only disables the mmr but does not sync the glasses.

3D EmitterStart (B.) disables both my mmr and glasses sync until I sequence through (C.) 3D Emiiter Stop. - which is so very counterintuitive.

Perhaps there is a way to load the US version of the code that is stored in the emitter chip.

From the j2 menu what is your Chip ID? You need to hit Debug Init before CHIP ID to get back the actual value. On my set its CHIP ID = 129, Rev. = 4.

And looking at my startup log, I see that I'm running -
freespaceMotionEngine version 0.3.8.
