NANO LG LV9500 Official Owner's thread - Page 47

This is available on buy.com again. Just picked one up since I missed it last week.
Guys would it be possible to update the Oz LW9500 firmware with the US Firmware found on the site here

http://www.lg.com/us/support/product...roduct-profile

would this help with getting the 3D to sync with the glasses?
I don't think that would be a good idea, you might encounter regional issues such as DTV compatibility.

understand that it would cause DTV issues, but would it be a good test to see if the 3D works with it?
and the put it back to the Oz firmware?

would this be possible to do?
would it be a good test and worthwhile test?

Does the black level suffer some by bumping up the brightness to 51 or are you using Medium Local Dimming to compensate? Also, what kind of light output (fL) did you calibrate to?
Local Dimming is turned off during calibration. Turned back On to Low afterwards. Gamma is Low. White Balance on Warm. THX Cinema was calibrated, then values put on all the other Modes. Brightness and Contrast were obtained using the S&M Calibration Blu-ray, then the calibration commenced.

Definitely looking for a starting point when the set arrives. Heard some bad stories about ATI shipments so keeping my fingers crossed. I have a 55D6000 but the flashlighting was annoying so hoping this set is better.

Gamma is set to low and calibrated to 2.2 or is set to 2.2 in the expert settings. How is the mll with brightness at 51.

Set to 2.2, calibrated to 2.2 set to 709. Watched my Switzerland reference disk afterwards - Colours now correct, black detailing is superb and no Green or Yellow tinge signs. Best I've seen this Blu-ray ever, (Excepting on my 55LHX were it was also superb.) and I've watched it alot - played it on the Sharps back when I was showing some interest that way - way too much Blue! Didn't like the Sharp Grey Bezel either.

Compared my 55LHX, my wife's and the new 55LV9500 panels: Left, Left of Middle, Middle, Right of Middle, and Right. 100IRE on Expert 1 with outside Pattern Generator using 100% White. Have found the Left Panel on my 55LHX the Best to calibrate. Middle for the 55LV9500. Did the left side of my wife's 55LHX, and it didn't look as good as mine after the calibration. Going to try the Right Hand Panel next time she's away. All Expert 1 IREs and CMS were at Zero.

My 55LHX: Left/ Left Middle/ Middle/ Right Middle/ Right
R: -5/ 1/ -3/ -3/ -5
G: 1/ -1/ 1/ 0/ 1
B: -2/ 5/ 3/ 4/ 5
Sandra's:
R: -2/ 0/ 1/ -1/ -1
G: 1/ 1/ 0/ 1/ 1/
B: -5/ -5/ -6/ -4/ -9/
55LV9500:
R: 0/ 0.5/ 0.5/ 0/ 2
G: 0/ -0.5/ -0.5/ 0/ 0
B: 0.5/ -2/ -1/ -1/ -5

The 55LV9500 is a lot closer in values than either of the 55LHXs. But then again, it's also newer.

This set is the perfect holdover set until the OLED sets are out and affordable. I would spend as little as possible because OLED is going to make everything obsolete in the near future.

OLED is 1000 times faster than LED sets, no input lag time and perfect blacks. OLED will make Elite owners regret the 6-8K they are putting out on soon to be obsolete technology.

Has anyone done a mll measurement on unit? Seams like this panel should have good mll.

Mll should be a perfect .000 fL with a brightness setting of 50 or less. It increases slightly as brightness setting is raised.

Just got my LV9500 from the Buy.com deal.

I'm still in the honeymoon phase but I can say that it has lived up to my expectations so far.

One concern is that my TV is ever so slightly convex when looking edge on. This appears to be equal on the top and bottom edges but doesn't seem to be hindering the viewing experience. I've seen other super thin LED tvs and this is not a common feature.

I do have slight bleeding at the top two corners when local dimming is not active.

My next step is to figure out the 3d/thx activation and get some glasses.

This thread has been extremely helpful.

I have been reading these posts for the past couple of days because I ordered the 55LV9500 few days back from buy.com. Thanks all for the posts and helpful info.

I noticed that the model number difference between arkasi55 and videkid.

arkasi55: 55LW9500-TA.AAUWLH
videkid: 55LV9500-UA.AUSWLHR

If you see these model numbers, I think it is pretty obvious that videkid has the 55LV9500 and arkasi55 has 55LW9500. Can anyone tell me the difference between these 2 models? May be 55LW9500 supports passive 3D vs 55LV9500 supports active 3D?

Thanks for your help. And sorry for my stupid questions...

The LV9500 is a United States release, the LW9500 is a Australian release.

Yeah, I noticed the glass being a bit warped on mine too when looking at it on edge. Must be pretty tough to keep that single pain sheet of glass this large and thin straight.

There is no reason to ever watch the set without the local dimming on.

Mine was just delivered. It is a 55LV9500-UA.AUSYLHR.

I will run it through some basic metering tests here at the office before taking it home...very excited.

Apparently with these, we don't need to worry about the panel lottery as much as we do about the shipping company lottery.

The outer box looked pristine when the delivery was taken. I was not able to inspect it while the driver was there.

Mine came in yesterday and with all of the known shipping issues I made them take it out of the box to inspect it. Front glass looked fine while off with no cracks or scratches but I was concerned about a slight "warp" on the left side. Set it up and nothing but lines across the screen emanating from the "warped" spot when turned on. Poor packaging for such a fragile piece of equipment.

Ouch that sucks... #1 thing always inspect when you have to sign for an item of this nature...PERIOD!! Let us know how things work out for you.. I know i would have been piss off big time..

LG really failed with packing design this year. Hopefully they'll improve in the future. If you read the reviews at the original HSN page you'll see that a large percentage of these arrived shattered.

I hear you on the packing... But i would also blame the shipper's.
