Hi arkasi55,

I've got an Australian version of the 55LW9500 TV.
Thanks to you arkasi55 for the instructions of how to activate the THX options, the pictures turn up really pleasant and vivid when the THX setting in the Q.Menu is selected.

I've been reading this thread in the last few weeks, I saw that it is virtually impossible to get the AG-S250 glasses to sync with the Australian version of the 55LW9500. Do you think it has to do with the screen refresh rate?

The screen refresh rate of the Australian version of 55LW9500 is only 400HZ, whereas the American version at at 480HZ.

Accrording to the AG-S250's specs on the Australian site (I'm not allowed to post reference URL in my first post here), the device is designed to work with PZ950, PZ650 and PZ570 TV that all have 600HZ screen refresh rate.

600HZ and 480HZ refresh rates have a common denominator of 60HZ which I believe, is the operating synchronisation signal that is broadcasted by the RF module inside those TV.

If that is true, the AG-S250 glasses will have no problem of pulling in phase with with the 3D synchronisation signal from the American version of 55LW9500, but will get a much harder time to pull in phase with signal from the Australian version...

WOW!I guess it was the software update. Watching Avatar 3D with no cross talk my eye's don't brother me, NO ghosting! I haven't watched 3D in months and did the update for software and can not believe it's the same 3D.
Very Clear 3D compared to what the tv was putting out when I first got it.
I can't believe how clear the 3D pictures are of the school kids.3D into 3D

Just thought I would share the TV does not do DTS audio apparently some liscensing agreement. So I tried everything I could think because I read that my old WD TV player (yes the original version) would not do MKV files with DTS. I didn't want to convert audio etc. I am not that smart. Well after trying to get TV to play these files including the audio (I always got an unsupported audio error and no sound. My Panasonic BDT 210 was no help either in playing these files via DLNA anyway. I just about gave up and was going to get the newest WD player which supports these files when I decided to give it a try. Started movie have sound and 3d interesting thing to is that prior to playing these files (via DLNA using Nero Home 4) I had just the first 3 3d options available the last 2 were opaque. When I played using the WD TV media player I had the last 2 3d options available as well. Watched a few minutes on Avatar in 3d no issues at all with video or sound.

Anyway hope this helps others.

Glad you're happy with your screen.
To answer your question, I do not believe it is a refresh rate issue as that is part of the initial sync (from my limited understanding) where the panel and glasses establish a commonality. Given the results of these tests that nony has kindly asked us to perform, it appears more that the GPIO ouputs are either disabled or addressed differently.

Unfortunately I've dropped the ball on my side of things due to a lack of spare time, but still intend to investigate further - first being the eeprom dump and startup logs nony has asked for.

Looked at the 2012 new LG TV forum and it looks like LG has only one line in the local dimming line. The chart showed nano only going up to 55 in. This makes me real glad I got a lv9500. What a steal.

My TV was repaired under manufacture warranty about month ago. Technician came with complete set of all boards and by replacing one by one found the bad one.

P.S. This was in NJ.

You are not kidding, Ditto, I am so happy with the picture quality of this set. Nothing is perfect, the thing that make this set such a winner is that is does everything good to great and has no major issues. Some of the really great sets always have a flaw that ruins them.

I bought 2 of these beautiful 55LV9500's and one screen has 2 long diagonal cracks. I called a local LG dealer and he said a new screen would be $2,500. Any suggestions on where I could get one? I'm thinking about just holding onto this tv until I can get a screen. No sense in selling it for $100 or $200 when I might get the chance to buy a cheap screen at some point in the future. Thank you for anyone's help!

If this arrived cracked - shipping company liable.
If customer had it crack on it's own after receiving, the problem would be proving to LG it was a manufacturing defect, and not abuse, no matter how minor. This would be at the discrection of the visiting LG Service Rep since this is still within the 1 year warranty time frame.

he bought 2 and one had a 2 in crack?Sounds like he recived the tv with the crack! If LG replaces the screen I would like to know with which one?

The TV is under warranty. I can honestly say that I haven't mistreated it in any way. I may pursue the manufacturer's defect route. LG told me that a new screen would run... drumroll please... $2,500.

Hi all

I have enabled the 3D on my Australian version LW9500, I just want to make absolutely sure I should be using the AG-S250 glasses as opposed to the AG-S110 model before I order some. I read conflicting advice on another site.

Cheers
AFAIK after enabling 3D (on Australian models), no-ones been able to get the glasses to sync, or if they have, they've been holding out in this thread

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the Hz to a multiple of 60Hz through the service menus? As in USA version is 480Hz, could we set Aus TV to 120Hz?

Was just on the 9600 fourm and stated, I have this TV it is the lv 9500!

Should you connect your panel to an STB via HDMI, you might find that the component (and all other HD) ports of your cable box have been disabled. This can be problematic if you desire to connect your slingbox to the component outputs of your STB.

Experimentally, I have been able to tweak a few HDMI parameters from the service menu of the LV9500 to prevent the disabling of the component output(s) in the above scenario, as follows:

From the System2 menu change items 16 and 23 -

HDMI HPD Default - from High to Low
Sil9287 HPD Control - from Off to On

Reboot

With this modification, the component interface will not be disabled when an HDMI cable is direct-connected from the STB to the LV9500 provided that the HDMI input to the LV9500 is not currently selected (in both powerup and standby modes).

Test Environment:
Service Provider - TWC NYC
STB - SA 8300HDC ODN Version:5.0.0_6

It's not production, and I haven't tested it, so use it at your own risk.

Just got this update notice today on my LV9500. Installed it... 3D still works.
I have not yet noticed what the update consists of.

Too much motion blur and pixelation?
Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong? I have a HD cable box connected with a HDMI cable and I'm getting a lot of blurring/pixelation of fast moving images (graphics that pop in and out, explosions, things of that nature). I'm sure it's something on my end - TruMotion is off and I don't have a BluRay player to see if this happens with other inputs.
If I'm not posting this in the correct place, any direction would be greatly appreciated.

I have comcast and I am getting tired of the bad signal from them, which is causing bad motion blur and pixelation.

I just want to let you know that the last firmware4.03 is not working properly, makes the main menu frozen.

I rolled back it.

Does the lv 9500 have a dual core chip like the 2012 models?

After about 3-4 days with the new firmware update 04.03.01 I started to experience the freezing up when going into the "Home" menu it was more like a 20-25 sec. delay per command (pressing any other button on the remote to navigate the menu) So I did a "Initialization of Premium" in the setup menu. It fixed the problem and also all the menus are way more responsive now. Much much quicker than ever before.

I do believe the LV 9500 has a single core chip.
