If you can navigate menu systems, you can enable 3D.

I've ordered my TV, and a remote to enable 3D. Will I need to order another remote to control the 3D once it is enabled?

I did get the remote with the 3D button but no, you do not need it to enable 3D.

Is there any on-line place I can order the S250/AUS and be sure I'm getting the AUS and not the /AL version?

Here is an attached photo of the TV I own which was purchased from HSN. My goal is to help others who want a great deal on an excellent set. Is it for everyone? no. This set has the same reflective screen as the LX9500, if you cannot deal with a reflective screen look at another set.

I do not work for LG or have any friends or family who work for LG. I only want to share a great deal for a great product that will save someone alot of money in a very tough economy.

I believe Nony is a major positive to this forum, even thou I have been called a few names that do not fit and hope he continues to contribute to this forum and others.

If they are sold in the United States you are fine.

Sure wish I had all those monies that LG supposedly is giving us, showing up in my bank account! So far, they must have gotten a wrong account #, because nothing has showed up on my bank balance yet! Next, you'll probably be telling everyone we get our sets Free as well! That's funny, my wife is pissed off that I'm BUYING TVs when I should be giving her a New Kitchen, or New Front Steps!
My 55LV9500 is in transit. The 55LW9800 is on pre-order from the Local LG Dealer. (Purchase has to be made before Sept 15, in order to get Free, one of the new Cisco Dual Band Routers.) Will be able to compare the Active to the Passive sets. Plus see if the 55LW9800 has the Dark Grey Panel, or Black like the 55LHX. (Have the New 3D Remote already, ready for the 55LV9500. (Not really required, but at $29.95, why not!))

My wife was mad at me for 2 weeks, the look on her face when I told her I was buying another TV was not pleasant

After we watched a 3D movie on family night all was forgiven.

If anyone cares, this unit supports LG's "Time Machine" feature by simply enabling the "DVR Ready" option in the service menu. Enable the option and plug a USB harddrive into the first USB port (labeled "HDD In") and the TV will prompt you to format the drive. After a few minutes of drive initialization, you'll be able to rewind over-the-air TV. It also appears to support scheduled recordings, but I haven't tried that feature.

I'm using a small portable harddrive powered by the USB port -- no external power supply necessary.

I do care and thanks for that. I also stumbled upon Audio Delay adjustments in the regular menu for both the built-in speakers and the digital out.
Just go into the audio settings and go down.

One thing I've noticed is that audio settings are disabled when a DVR drive is connected. The settings previously applied are still in effect, but they can't be changed until the DVR drive is removed.

Also, there's an option on the quick menu to eject the HDD. It's the last option in the list.

Also, partial source code for this TV (at least the 55LW9500) is available at http://www.lg.com/global/support/ope...opensource.jsp. Just select "TV/Projector" and type in 55LW9500 for the model number. The archive is 592 MB.

Edit: I haven't found much interesting stuff here -- probably not worth the download.

Does it have to be a hdd or will a usb flash drive work?

I attempted to enable the "channel browser" feature which is supposed to let you browse previews of a bunch of channels at once. With it enabled, pressing the "fav" button on the remote brings up the browser, but all the channel thumbnails say "no signal". Perhaps it's an unfinished feature or it requires a different type of tuner module. I did notice some korean characters on the browser screen which may mean it only works in those regions.

I'm not sure, although flash drives are often pretty slow (and small, of course).

According to the manual:

The recommended capacity is 40 GB or over and 1TB or less for a USB HDD.

DVR USB hard disk supports only SSD or HDD disk types. (USB memory is not
supported.)

A SSD (Solid State Drive) has a limited number of write/delete cycles. A HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is recommended for this product.

I'd call HSN.

Same here. Ordered last night. Said thanks for the order but no confirmation e-mail and it doesn't show that I have any order history.

EDIT: I called and they said I hadn't entered an e-mail address when I placed the order. Everything else was fine with the order. I think they have a problem with their website because I know I put the e-mail address in.

1) How do you make a backup of the tv firmware? Where is the option located and what size of flash drive is recommended?

I seen earlier that arkasi55 said to go into the installation menu and go to the TV Link Loader. But I don't see those anywhere. Is the installation menu a regular menu or is it in under the service menus?

2) In the service menu, I also have a 55LW6500. The 3D THX is set to 0. What do you get by setting that to 1? Is it ok to set it to 1 on the 55LW6500?

Thanks in advance!

What button is the 3D button on the service remote? Don't see button labeled 3D or anything.

Read the steps linked to from the first post. You don't use the service remote to start 3D mode; you use the remote to enable it in the service menu.

It took mine two full days to show up on the website, depends how busy they are.

Just had a tech out to look at the dust/debris inside my screen. He said about the only option I have is to replace the unit. Now the question is replace through HSN (assuming they get them in stock again) or replace through LG.

The remote with the 3D button is LG#: AKB72914043. It is identical to the one provided with the 55lv9500 except it has a 3D button where the "ratio" button is. The "ratio" button is located on the lower left of the AKB72914043." If you go to the HSN site, the AKB72914043 is the remote they picture (too bad we didn't get that remote!). http://electronics.hsn.com/lg-55-480...139813_xp.aspx

Just checked my status again and it said it shipped out today, however I still haven't received a confirmation email or notification of it shipping. Oh well, I guess I should just be happy it did ship.
