If you are a DirecTV subscriber you should check out this Australian TV offering on the Audience channel. It is right after the series Damages.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rake_(TV_series)

The main character has all this going for him:

Drinks too much
Divorced
In love with a prostitute who is trying to go straight (with another man)
Slept with best friends wife
In trouble with the bar association
Has a high school aged son who asked if he could use his apartment for some quality time with his girlfriend
Owes way too much money to the bookies
Sleeps with his clients
Sees a Shrink

It is Australian rules TV so lot's of topless babes and between the sheets bump and grind.

A couple of the cases he has handled include a guy who committed cannibalism and a bigamist with three wives.

On top of this you get a look at a legal system that involves wearing silly wigs in the courtroom.

Set your recorders

What, he's not a serial killer on the side?

I'm out...

It's like Californication except it loosely revolves around the Australian legal system

Thanks for starting this thread. I didn't even know it was on - probably because I'm saving all Damages for a marathon viewing session after the season is over.

I'm loving it so far. He strikes me as an Australian Dr. Gregory House with even less scruples.

You are probably right the video is nothing to get excited about.

So at my end the Audience channel is 720P and the content is upscaled from 576 lines of resolution. Better than 480 but obviously not 1080.

Last night's episode had none of the promised nudity but plenty of drinking. I actually felt the need to get up and get a beer at one point.

After 50 times it's like watching Itchy & Scratchy.

I've seen a couple of eps. It's a pretty good show. There's going to be a repeat of all 5 episodes that have shown so far. Saturday night at 9 PM.
