Today I'll be continuing to farm at the Happy Pig Motel. The eridium is more common than I expected, even from skag piles. I'm already up to 21 backpack items at Level 12. No enemies at all unless I want to fight them. If only there were orange weapons in the machines already. I wouldn't have started farming if my mail delivery skills were better. I needed something else to do after the fifth failure. Before the next try, I'm going to kill everybody and plan the route carefully...

Stats for a gun you have won't change as you level up. All that it means when there's no level on a gun is that you can pick it up and play with any level of character. No base level required. Good to keep around for starting new characters.

I don't have a second gold account (yet) but I could always just do a trial on her account. We'll have to play some after they get uh.... slightly comfortable.. wink.gif
I've never been really clear on how joining other people's games works and how it effects your character and storyline either.

cool man, yeah I may break down and pick this game up. I don't have a second gold account either. So would I be able to have split screen at home (me plus a guest) and use my gold account to play co-op with others?

Also, thanks Spyder and Dude for the help with joining games.

Does that make sense? That's been my limited experience so far.
What I don't like is that you can be going thru your game, and a friend can join you and grab mission rewards that you earned, kinda BS if you ask me.
Gotcha thnx man.

Spyder you are a lucky sob hah. I've never dated one that was good with an xbox controller............. Too many ways to go with that one..

Trail you should pick it up. It's mostly good for her too because of the random funny/weirdness.

Awww. Well, once orange guns start showing up I'll find a replacement and put it into the shared storage.

Patting myself on the back right now. Figured out how to get on top of the Happy Pig Motel sign all by myself. One less thing to look up later...

I didn't even bother fighting everyone, I just ran/hopped past them and made the deliveries.

Oh, yes, sure, I was running like crazy. But I ran in the wrong direction almost every time, then fell off onto the shallow water and couldn't jump right back up. 'Panic' is the right word for what I was doing.

So I'm going to go in, kill everybody, THEN I'll practice how to jump from the second mailbox so I'm headed directly to the third. Once I know the best route, I'll try again. If killing everybody beforehand means nobody bothers me during the run, so much the better.

I finished fully upgrading my backpack capacity and sniper rifle ammo last night. Not just farming: I hit the triple tri-eridium at Moxxxis which yielded a fair amount, and later hit the triple two-eridium twice in a row for 8 each. I looked up what comes from what spins, and I think the triple Marcos and Borderlands spins are currently unavailable to me due to not seeing higher level guns in the machines yet. Or, they are just more rare than I think they are.

I'm swimming in Badass points from killing Psychos and the other folks that respawn every time I quit and continue. With so many yet-unseen bad guys on the list of things to do later, I'll probably keep farming until I have no more need for eridium. Or, no need at Sanctuary anyway...

Just wait until you do the Arms Dealing/Dealer delivery mission - that one is really frustrating. Three words - vehicle, rocks, and stuck. Hopefully others feel my pain on that one.

I got three psychos on the slots this morning - you win a prize, but not a good one!

What is the max backpack capacity? I've upgraded it twice so far.

27. I still feel woefully overcrowded in my pack.

Where is this slot machine located? Is the bank only in Sanctuary? Where is the shared storage and how does it work exactly? I think I must have been pretty tired the past two nights - I've been co'oping but I'll be honest I don't have the slightest clue what is going on in the game. I just kill shite and open boxes hoping there's a better gun or shield.

Yes, you have looked very lost, in addition to the fact that your character is also frequently seen staring into space and grabbing for his junk biggrin.gif

Slot machines (2) are at Moxxxi's.

Not sure about the bank.

Go talk to Claptrap in Sanctuary and he'll give you a quick mission to locate his secret stash. You can put items into the stash that other characters you create can use.

Don't do it dude! You'll be whoring yourself out for cash in no time. It seems to cost more for each pull when you level up too.

I'm in the same boat - not a clue what's going on in the story other than I'm saving Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
the characters from BL1
and that Handsome Jack is a douche that we'll probably kill before all is said and done.

I just ran through another 8,000 at the slots, but did manage enough eridium for several upgrades. I left with 2,000 just so I have something to use to buy any ammo I need. No great guns anywhere yet.

I have been reading posts elsewhere about orange weapon drops, and feel so BAD about what I could have gotten so far. I guess a few boss retries are in order...

LOL!

When I do happen to pay attention, I enjoy Handsome Jack's commentary. I'd like to have a beer with that dude. Will this be like KOTOR where I can turn to the dark side and help Handsome Jack?

I played Borderlands and all the download content to death. What a great game. Got Borderlands 2 day one and its even better. For all you Xbox and non Nvidia guys, you don't know what your missing! Its running Physx engine. If you have an Nvidia card you can enable it and let me tell you,it takes the game to the next level Physics wise.. The debris, the way flags move. You can shoot cloth and it will put a hole in it or it will tear and then move realistically. Bad guys rag doll effects from it looks awesome. If you have a computer with an AMD card, get rid of it! Get a new Nvidia card,it is worth it! Xbox guys,I feel sorry for you.. frown.gif

Where are you finding the eridium?

I got past the mail delivery on my 2nd attempt. I killed everyone and grabbed all the loot after the first attempt failed and then it was pretty easy since I kinda knew my way around. I started out by parking up the top of the hill right by the closest one.

Eridium is everywhere, when it wants to be. There are boxes all over the place up at the motel. I start right behind the teleport station, go around the building for two trash bins, come back to the bus, jump onto the roof from the bus and open the 4 boxes up there. The box near the office, the box IN the office (never smashed the pile inside the office: looked menacing with that dynamite outside) then the trash bins out near the med dispenser machine. The skag piles too, as you go by them. When you're done, quit and continue. The shack on the hill above the motel (noticed it from the top of the pig) has 4 boxes, but they rarely yield eridium and the money they usually have is tiny.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of those boxes and piles has given me eridium at least once. Some runs, two boxes do it. The most I've gotten in one drop is 4 bars. Sometimes it's a while between drops, but they always pick back up again. Shooting the skags occasionally yields a piece, as has shooting the Psycho/Nomad clan members that live across the road from Scooter's car vending. If you just barely step into the road, one comes out unaware that you are there, ready for a 1-shot unaware kill. I'm closing in on 2,000 Badass points just from this area.

You can't expect instant gratification. You CAN expect plenty of eridium given enough time. At worst, the loot you collect will add up, so when you end up in Sanctuary you can try to win more eridium at the slot machine. I got at least 20 pieces today alone.

I finally finished the delivery. I cleared out the front guys and that made the first 4 easy. I had some opposition near the back, but not enough to stop me. I've added farming those outhouses to my routine, but I'm not sure it's REALLY worth my while except for the money to go gamble at Sanctuary. Purple weapons were there, but nothing I needed.

Gonna have to look for a guide that says when orange stuff is unlocked...

Oh. Spinning three Psychos at the slot machine is dangerous. If you have more than 288 shields, you don't get hurt. When I noticed that, I stopped ducking. More macho that way...

The teleport location in Three Horns Valley is right in front of the motel. It's where you'll reappear each time you quit/continue.

Yes, it is darn annoying that all you get for your money is a bomb tossed at you. Duck if your shields are under 288 (maybe scaled, but at Level 13 I'm OK at 292) and keep spinning...

I'll have to mess around at the hotel for a while. I've been dumping all my money in the slots playing both machines at a time, but haven't gotten much eridium from it.

I just finished the mission to find the guy who was kidnapped and got probably 20 pieces during the last part of it.
Eridium can also be found by fighting Mad Maw (think thats his name) in the fortress adjacent to the Motel where he'll drop 1-4 bars each time by doing a quit and saving and returning, however, not certain that he activates again after you proceed through to save Roland and return - I'll try that again today to see if he spawns again to farm more eridium and follow tips on the motel listed here.

Love the Game and after 3 days of play the variety of new enemies and challenges they present are great but sometimes the mapping is confusing as hell to follow and find certain areas and unlike B1 I had walkthroughs to check when lost but those are minimal presently to reference. Finding Enkindling was a nightmare for me as well as a few other locals so we can't forget underground paths also.

The menu system is cool looking but can be confusing after playing B1 for nearly two yrs where I played all characters to level 69 PT2 it's challenging trying to figure weapon strengths and money accumulation seems a bit wimpy after 3 days. Wish they'd left the Menu navigation for weapons unchanged as you start from square one trying to figure what works and it makes it hard to decide on what to farm and sell for cash. This piece is dramatically different - for instance I've yet to see an elemental weapon have and X1-X4 designation to measure strength.

KUDO POINTS (based on just a few days XBox AXTON (Turrets) Solo play and lots to come) include

  • Graphics are far superior
  • Object gathering of money and ammo in open areas often is automatic even driving over gathers - contained items need the "X" pressed.
  • Modifying your character is vastly more extensive with earned Bad*ss Points and Eridium = looong game play/replay.
  • Vehicles Weapons operate much better and more manuerverable but seems to be far more bandits and air enemies than B1.
  • Weapons are a learning experience but they are much better but still learning to judge - Sniper Rifle Critical Hits are way better - this is much improved as are the turrets. Many new weapons that are awesome and operate very differently but cool as hell with many.
  • Massive numbers of new enemies and variety to learn.
  • Enemy AI and movement is better/more illusive forcing use of Melee much more and their dialogue can be hilarious at times.
  • Battles seem much more intense.
  • You have to earn your road kill - they no longer burst like bubbles - you have to wear them down with weapons and running over they feel more 3D during the kills.
  • Holy **** moments when you come up against some of the metallic enemies when trying to rescue Roland and that dang power core.
  • The guys with the Full Frontal Shields and the midgets strapped to the front is hilarious - Lot's of Humor in this thing.
  • Still addictive though frustrating learning a totally new Menu System that looks great but tosses out what you spent a few yrs using.

WARNING! Stay out of the water - it's a killer whereas in B1 you could walk out into it without any issue - theres a mission where you have to jump from ramps and boats in an icy area and I fell several times and could not figure out how to get out and died and using a weapon while standing in those areas can force your character into the water without realizing it. Strange that this happens when you can jump down into areas from heights and take no damage but the water is deadly = money losses.

Love the Game even though half the time I don't know whats going on - it remains addictive FUN despite some of the frustrations and changes from B1.

ENJOY! Well worth the money IMO!biggrin.gif

One of the downsides is that money in this game is worthless unless you buy weapons or shields from vendors. I am one of those hoarders who likes to discover my weapons and shields and will rarely buy anything in RPGs. In the last game I had to gather money to buy the storage decks which were really expensive but it gave the money meaning. In this game only eridium is important. You cannot even buy eridium so I am not as motivated to loot and carry stuff back to shops to sell. I guess you can gamble for eridium but as I am paranoid I keep thinking the money COULD be needed for something later in the game (even though I know better) so I have a hard time just gambling all my money away....though I do just sell most of the gear I get out of the slots so i am probably not losing that much. Oh well, I guess I should be happy that I can now evaluate the weapons on the go instead of dragging them back. Of course once I drop it, its gone for good, if I sell it I can "buy it back" if I change my mind.

Well, I've only gotten one orange weapon drop so far (Level 13) but I've been spending a LOT of time just farming for loot and eridium. One purple shield was worth buying and it now takes out rakks as the hit me without any effort on my part. I'd say that, just like BL1, some people will get great drops and some will have to shop quite a bit to get anything decent.

I am noticing that eridium drops have been 'turned on' in places I visited earlier. I went back through Flynt's place and got 5 eridium in two drops. Flynt still yields just a pistol that I immediately sell. What I *wanted* was something orange like what I'd read about elsewhere, but no such luck for me. My sniper rifle is only pretty good so maybe once I upgrade and get critical 1-shot-kills on important characters my luck will change. At least I hope it works that way...

This. I've bought 3 things from vendors so far. 1 of them was the required sheild buy on the early "elevator" mission and another was just to see how bouncing betty grenades work. That leaves me with 1 "real" purchase, a sheild that offered 1,000 protection when I was at Level 9. Quite a buy! smile.gif I never bought hardly anything in BL1 from vendors either though. Better stuff always came from enemy drops.

I spend nearly ALL of my cash on the slots in BL2, but they've treated me well...tons and tons of eridium and a few damn fine weapons to boot. Sell the junk you get back to any vendor down the street, and you can play for a long time. I've already maxed out half of the black market buys without farming or doing anything other than playing the slots with disposable cash.
