Borderlands 2 - Page 10

I'm stuggling with the game a bit, particularly since its premise is 'deep' and strategic, but online play is chaotic and messy. People are running around at max speed and most of the time look lost. I cant even read the menus without getting left behind. I think i need to revert back to single player to truly enjoy the game and embrace the side missions. Lets see how it goes...

I don't think the devs used the inventory much in practice. It looks like a great design, yeah it's cool, but the way it hinders your whole equipping process needs to go. Why wouldn't you just leave the equipped portion always up and your inventory could cycle through guns/shields/relics. It's a total pain in the ass to equip a gun. Love the game other than that.

Nothing wrong with playing SP at all. Co-op is a crapshoot. I played my first BL1 game with 3 friends and 2 of them were ALWAYS off somewhere, dicking around halfway across the map, looting chests, driving around with no purpose, etc. That left me and another buddy to fight enemies twice as hard as they should have been on our own. Not fun at all. mad.gif

Otoh, playing with a good team can be both fun and rewarding. Teaming up with my son and wife, we make a good team. I call out the situational strategies and enemies; my son gets melee action galore, I toss out a turret and defend our position against psychos, and the wife locks up the biggest foes, snipes gunners, and heals. smile.gif

That said, I do have my own game where I take things at my own pace as well...never know when I might want to set off on some wonky side quest to traverse to the top of the world, hunt down something for Badass points, or spend 20 minutes winning eridium at the slots.
Yea the coop is better appreciated after at least one solo run through. That way you get the story and won't care about missing side stuff or equipment hors. That's what I did on B1 and what I'll do on 2.
I guess I wasn't paying attention on BL1, or didn't have a way to measure changes in how things affected me.

Spoiler'd just in case someone wants to be surprised... Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

At Level 13, I was paying $133 per spin at Moxxxis and the grenade from three Psychos was blocked by my 292 shields. I go off to start rescuing Roland, and instead of carrying that on I go back to Solitude.

So, still at Level 13, the spins are now $209 and the grenade blows away all my shields and half my life.

Sure, I think the purple stuff is a bit more frequent now, but I was hoping that level would make stuff more dangerous, not story progression. Can't wait for the nuke that goes off when spins are $1000...

I don't know about anyone else but I think Scooter is hilarious. I can't help but laugh at the stuff he says.
One of my characters got a orange rifle at the beginning of the game when he was lvl 5.

I know rescind my earlier statement about this game being easier than Borderlands 2. I have run into a couple of missions (that I did complete on my own) that I wonder how anyone without a turret or coop will survive. I mean if I had Lilith from the last game where I could turn invisible, run away/heal up and then attack from a different angle I could do it but I am taken to understand Zero doesn't have the healing with his level up so that would be way harder. Also Maya, what the heck can she do, can she statsis a group or just one person at a time? And I hope gunzerker is a better bullet spong more resistant to elements than Axom. .... Or maybe I just have crappy gear. I have been playing a lot and I THINK getting far in the story, but I have done all the sidequest I have found except the Timed ones (yet). I hate timed missions, those are not fun, why are they in this game frown.gif not like Coop would help with those.

So, anyone here playing SP with someone other than Axom?
Zero can heal if you get the Survivor mod, but I guess everybody gets something like that. Invisibility works but it sometimes seems like the first few seconds are like running through molasses. There's also a tendency for the decoy to get in the way of a shot which sucks up time to correct. I try to live up to the sniper role, taking out as many as I can before they're on top of me. That's why I'm now farming Sanctuary, trying to get a purple sniper rifle from Michael Mamaril and eridium from all the places it tends to show up. I opened a random box and found a 4-piece pile but I'm NOT going to open every box in town every run just because some MIGHT be there.

I'm also trying an experiment. I now have a shield that says it has a chance to drop a booster if damaged. Low, low chance, but if the grenades in Moxxxis do trigger that upgrade I'll be ready. No luck so far...

A couple people joined me last night and we did the first timed mission and it did help. For 6 targets you have that many more people ding it.

Not tired of it yet. Still a blast, continual progression is awesome!

LOL, I understand! But they're your friends, tell them to move their asses and PTFO! wink.gif

Also, totally addicted to playing the machines at Moxxi's. I feel like I should have a drink and a cig in my hand when I'm in there. FYI, tip Moxxi until you can't any longer and she'll give you a nice SMG. It's repeatable on separate visits to Sanctuary.

I'm playing the PC version, but still spying on this board. I'm playing solo with Salvador and was initially using the left side tree, which I think is mainly damage modifiers. I was doing a few quests in Lynchwood, which were a couple levels below me, and I was dying constantly. I switched up my points to get more survival skills, and it's helped a lot. I'm struggling with some mediocre guns for the time being. My sniper rifle head shots take 2-3 hits to kill people there. Though I just bought one that had some decent damage last night, haven't tried it yet.

One thing I will say, you really have to try every blue or better item you get as a reward, because they almost always have some unique effect not described in the pop-up. For example, I got a grenade called moxxi's kiss of death, it just says it's an electric mirv type, but when you toss it, it flies around in the air trying to find a target.

My favorite gun is from the ai core mission. The scope on that thing is all over the place but it's funny to listen to for a bit.
Yea the weapon effects are really varied. Got a shotty that tossed flaming bowling balls.
After many hours of farming eridium, I bought every upgrade available in Sanctuary so it's time to move on to rescuing Roland. Don't believe any video that tells you the boxes lying around in Sanctuary don't yield eridium. At random, it's everywhere. Or, maybe just for those of us with Vault Hunter relics... smile.gif
post #288 of 847
Holy crap! I just played 5hrs straight, and I haven't done that in years, my shield and health are both about 2000 each now. Seriously kickin' some ass on bad guys now!
I chatted with a Sanctuary citizen this weekend who used to be a Vault Hunter until she took a bullet to the knee biggrin.gif

Shacknews is reporting that there may be more DLC outside the season pass. That is kind of irritating and makes me really not want to spend another dime on this. Season pass should include any and all DLC even if it's timed IMO.

That's simply unheard of. I can't even comprehend how they're gonna try and pass that off. If it turns out to be true, it's disgraceful.
The report could simply mean there are skins, avatar items, gamer pics, or other non-playable stuff coming in the future. Would I care if I don't get the ability to have a pink vehicle with yellow hearts to drive around with my Season Pass? Nope.
Season pass is just a discount on 4 DLC that are already planned anyway, cutting off the price of one of them. Even if they released another 10 after that it wouldn't make them greedy or ripping off the people that got season pass. It was clearly advertised as such and not advertised as you being perpetually entitled to everything produced for Borderlands 2 forever.

I got past the mail delivery on my 2nd attempt. I killed everyone and grabbed all the loot after the first attempt failed and then it was pretty easy since I kinda knew my way around. I started out by parking up the top of the hill right by the closest one.

I killed two spiders, small ones, and they both dropped iridum, but then I can I go hours without finding it again. Really hit and miss.

Does anyone know where to turn Iridium in when .... (massive main story spoiler inside) Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Sanctuary leaves and flies away to another dimension? [/spoiler}

I suggest you continue the story line.

I still haven't gotten very far, just rescued Roland and did a few side missions after that, but since the loot in Sanctuary ramped up quite a bit, I kept farming. Decent snipers from Michael, absorbing shields, and relics showing up in the washing machines inside the HQ.

And eridium everywhere. I now have 99 pieces, which is the max you can carry. Unless another town has a way to spend it, finding more is a waste.

Why people who want eridium didn't find all they needed in Sanctuary is a mystery to me...

Well to be fair it sounds like you farmed and/or exploited far more than the average gamer...so it probably shouldn't be as much of a mystery as you make it out to be. HTH.

Very true and I believe my opinion was also advertised as just that, no? I don't feel entitled to anything more than what I choose to pay for.

Your post reads that way by saying season pass should include all of it.
