Thank god I'll have time to play this before the end of the world. Trailer is boner-iffic.

my friend and i logged so many hours playing the original on the PS3 (split-screen) and on the xbox over live, this is probably one of the few games this year that i plan to pre-order.

if i ever get over my current 'Dead Island' addiction, i might have to pop it back in again and have a little fun.

Id love to do coop with some avs folks. I used to farm so much in the original. Had all the known rare types and was an awesome machine gunner. Had the most powerful orge (known on borderlands official forum) at the time.

Ambrose & I will probably have to find some more people to play coop with. Used to play with a guy named Infra..... infra something? But he vanished into thin air never to be seen again.

While you're at it, there's also Space Invades, Asteroids, and Pac-Man.

Seriously though, what HAVE you been playing if you haven't played this???
Not sure why I let this one pass me by especially with having a system link option. Maybe I'll pick some copies up for my next lan.
I'm already hearing the calling for another playthrough of the first game.

Borderlands is the only game I've ever felt the need to play through repeatedly, also the only non-arcade game where I've ended up with a complete on the achievements.

And Infrasonic you should donate your 360 to underprivileged youth since its just a pretty dust trap.

Borderlands 2: Meet the Siren
Gearbox details the revamped siren class in its shoot and loot sequel.

Quote:

Borderlands is many things, but it's mostly about one thing: pointing your gun at an enemy and firing bullets at it until it dies. You do it again until there's nobody left onscreen, then move to another area and repeat. It encourages a Diablo-like mentality, tossing you into lightning-fast gameplay loops of anticipation, action and reward. As you earn better loot from enemies and chests, level up, equip specialized grenades, shield mods and tweak your skills, the shooting spectacle gets faster and flashier. You kill more efficiently, from long-range with sniper rifles, with sprays of acid-coated SMG bullets and with thundering blasts from fire shotguns. With Borderlands 2, developer Gearbox wants to add even more ways to play.

A big part of that is an overhaul of the class system. The four classes from the original game still appear in Borderlands 2, but they're not playable. They're around for story reasons, but you'll be wielding weaponry as one of four new or reimagined classes. Take Maya, the Borderlands 2 Siren, for instance. It's a returning class, but with completely different functionality.

Much, much more at the link. Also a video where they discuss the trailer.

Here's the video from that page. Tons of information about the classes, what you see in the trailer, etc.

Lol! Really. Maybe put it towards the costs of getting a proper PC gaming platform for you and Dallas.

Awesome. Yeah, I really tear it up with my machine guns too (I play Roland exclusively) but it's nice having that extra turret. It's like having another solider on the field! I love it. Was starting to get bummed out that they took the soldier class out from the game but the most recent trailer confirmed that it is still there rockin' the turret.

I can't wait for this to come out. Maybe by then I can get you guys on the computer. It has better everything.

Do you just not like using a keyboard and mouse or do you not like to use a computer? Cuz you can play most games with a 360 controller on a PC and nowadays most computers have HDMI ...sooo. Just curious.

Not to me. Super low res, lower framerate, aliasing... other... fuglies. I sit 9' away from mine so maybe that is it.

Disagreed on the 'headaches' cuz I have just as many with the 360 but I guess it depends on what we're talking about. I've grown up with computers in my life (gaming) and had all the older consoles. Most things can be worked out unless it's a hardware related thing but with consoles, you're stuck with what you got. Last time I was really playing my 360 was when I tried to get back into playing BC2 and the server thing was annoying and XBL has no support for voice chat with more than 8 people...or however many it was. I can't mod games either. Bleh.

The only thing I miss about playing 360 was being able to play games with you guys.

I too grew up with computers, since about '94 or so computers and computer gaming have been a large part of my life... IT manager as a profession... doesn't make it any less of a headache... 360 just works and I don't have to mess with it... Last thing I want after coming home from work is to have to "work" on my PC as well.

Also can't PC game on 106" from a lovesac supersac with a kb/m... of course for a decent portion of games I could use my 360 controller on pc, but what's the point?
I hear ya on all that but I never have to "work" on my computer to make games play. They just work but maybe it's cuz I have a nice computer. Also, a wireless keyboard/gamepad plus a trackball mouse makes it pretty easy for me but I'm different. Lol!

Sorry guys. I didn't mean to go on a PC vs Console thing here. I love Borderlands and miss playing with my 360 peeps. I just.... don't miss my 360. At all. *shudders* Maybe I'll play it again once I finish redoing my HT room.

Pretty much the same as formulanerd. Don't have to worry about upgrading Xbox ever for the latest game. I'd have to have the 360 controller on PC to see how it works for me, but mouse/keyboard combo doesn't work well for me for FPS.

I've been playing PC games for years, but that was mostly RTS & RPG games. Tried to do BC2 on PC just to see if I wanted to go that direction for BF3 and my brain melted.

Also, wub wub.

Moar Info!

Meet the Assassin

Quote:

The Assassin class is basically the ninja of Borderlands 2. He runs around the battlefield with a sword and can slice into enemies from stealth for colossal critical hit bonuses. He's the class of choice for someone that wants to do crazy high burst damage.

Like the rest of Borderlands 2's classes, the Assassin's skill set can be tailored to your preferred play style. Want to concentrate on close-up strikes? Long-distance sniper shots? You can with the Assassin, which according to Gearbox is the only class with a clearly defined weapons preference. If you really like sniping, it sounds like the Assassin could be a good choice.

The character customization system is built around a primary action skill. The Siren phaselocks enemies, the Gunzerker dual-wields weapons, the Commando spawns a turret, and the Assassin tosses out a decoy and enters into a temporary stealth state. As the Assassin -- named Zer0 in Borderlands 2 -- levels up, you can activate new skills to modify the functionality of the stealth state, which from the sounds of things has some interesting timing-based gameplay elements built in.

Meet the Commando

Quote:

If you played the original Borderlands, you're familiar with the Soldier. Like every other class he mostly relied on guns to kill things, but was also able to deploy a turret to help out. At its most basic level the turret let you deal additional damage, but by investing in the skill tree it could be modified to heal and resupply. Gearbox's plan for the Commando in Borderlands 2 is to make the turret a much more modifiable, important part of a battle.

And in case you're not familiar with Borderlands at all, it's a first-person shooter meant to be played cooperatively. There are quests and vehicles and story, but mostly it's about mercilessly gunning down anything that moves and then looting bodies for weapon, grenade and shield upgrades. As you level you earn skill points that can be used to customize your chosen class' primary action skill. The Gunzerker can dual-wield any weapon in the game, the Siren can magically phaselock targets, and the Commando drops a turret to the ground to help out in a fight.

I'm so rockin' the Commando class.
