Borderlands 2 - Page 14

Thanks guys. I am doing side missions just none since that bug. Its the Dr Zed bug that happens when you take the eridium to the woman. The mission can not be completed. Has anyone done the mission killing the W4RD3N while around Level 14? Im just curious.
What's the name of that mission? I don't recall any issues.

And I can't remember what level I was...
if that's the one I think it is I believe my Siren was around that level when I did it alone. The key is to have a acid weapon which rarely show up that early...unless you have someone leave one for you or you tip a certain bartender a BUNCH of money. Once you have a decent acid weapon it shouldn't be too bad. Just take your time and focus on taking down W4RD3N by focusing on his critical areas.

On my first play through of that mission with Axom I had a 6 shooter acid gun and a Zero character with me who didn't have any acid weapon. The fight was much, much harder even with Turret taking out the little guys. Oddly the electric weapons don't work as well as one would think....

Grenades are good too, you should be able to get some acid version of those.

Its called the Do No Harm quest with the eridium shard. Some people run into it others don't. I can't complete that mission right now.

I completed the W4RD3N mission using a sniper rifle. So I did complete it with a lvl 14 character was more wondering what everyone else was at when they took on that mission.
Well, at worst you just don't get the rewards for it until a patch is available. Side quests are nice that way.

http://www.ign.com/wikis/borderlands-2/Do_No_Harm includes a 'fix' in the notes but it's not trivial if you don't find a friend who can let you turn it in in their game...
One of my friends who finished the game twice already dropped in today. The stuff he was carrying, not just the Level 50 stuff, was amazing. Considering he said he NEEDED it to stay alive in his game, It seems like someone decided that the game should never become a cakewalk. Kinda sad, I like cake...
I'm in my second play through at 38 or so, trying to solo and stuff just destroys me. I'm using gunzerker with the tank mode on and I can survive for a short while, during that effect. But I shouldn't have to activate that 95% of the time. I thought about going back to 1st run but the last stuff is at level 30 it looks like, it would be useless to me. 11k health and I think around 8k shield. I took the one dr zed quest to fight his rival, and the guy has some type of homing grenade and it just instantly puts me down. This game is far from easy. I slag the guy and shoot my rocket for 62k damage and it barely dents him...

My experience with the game so far has guns just barely good enough to survive. I'm still waiting for that really awesome gun that never comes.
My friend had 38K shields, 42K health, and a sniper rifle that did 13K damage. He was just getting by. Good luck...
Personally, I LOVE how this game keeps the challenge up...although I've only died maybe 10 times in 2 playthroughs; one solo and one co-op. (3 times were on purpose.)

Guns have little to do with my success or failure. It's all about strategy and adapting to different situations, imo.

I'm not saying that I'm some Borderlands god or belittling others struggles by any means. That is not my intent in any way. I suppose having a L69 BL1 character that completed the first game 3 seperate times (including all the DLCs) probably just prepared me for this game very well. Now, if you want a real challenge, throw in Dark Souls. wink.gif
post #400 of 847
The first game was considerably easier. I rarely died in that game. The first game felt like I always had a gun that was overpowering. This game I feel like my guns and shield are always underpowered.

I've been playing dark souls, got it a few days before this game released. I got to Anor Londo? takes 15 minutes to get to this one spot that I couldn't get past. Two bats pinch attack you right after you run down the top of an archway with a giant archer firing at you. I've been playing this since then.

I finally got the jackpot achievement. Of course it was (useless to me) eridium, then the very next pull was 3 marcus that gave me my new slagging gun.

Yeah, I have that problem, glad to see it is not just me. Still in my quest log and it says it is complete and in my active quests, no reward yet, it says to go back to Tanis, but when I click on her, she doesn't do anything. Oh well, I bet it will be patched soon.

Learned a lesson last night. You can get a new SMG from Moxxxi by tipping her again, but the amount is random and so is the quality of the weapon.

I only moved from a Level 15 version of the fire SMG to Level 18, but the damage almost doubled. I tried it several times since I screwed up the first try thinking I'd get one of each kind again, which did NOT happen. No matter how much I tipped, she only handed me one type. One time, no gun even though she spoke the same line about me taking her favorite gun. Another time, no gun at all even though I'd handed over like 130,000. Good thing exiting the game avoids saving bad deals.

The features also varied. One was 98 damage, another few 88 with random magazine sizes. Since I got one for 17,000 that did 95 damage I stopped trying despite the magazine being down 2 rounds from the one I had. Fire damage was up, though. I may try again past Level 30 since damage seems to jump exponentially later.

I realize that this is old news to anybody who blew through the game a few times already, but maybe it matters to somebody...

Oh, I sold that orange gun I had to a friend for 100,000 so I had some spare change to screw around with. I need more deals like that...
I tipped Moxxi $15k and got TWO kick-ass SMG's(for my level-32). Nice little surprise!
Yea, first time is easier than repeat business. Lesson learned, although http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Special_Weapon_Effects_Bordelands_2 says that getting them has more value than is immediately obvious. Not sure what's true, though. If I do start again to do another character, I'll THINK about waiting...

Found out how to evolve varkid and the big hockey mask guys. Couldn't get past super badass varkid though.
I hate varkids. I love the big guys though they are darn handy.

I got two orange (OK, yellowish) pistols from drops in the Fridge. Not sure what to carry until better stuff comes along. One annoys me by coming back and sometimes hurting me when reloaded and tossed. However, it kills well...
I was able to get the Bee shield after just a few tries. It's a level 28 version, I'm just finishing up my first playthrough. It seriously makes the guns unreal and I've shifted my skill points, relics, and class mods around towards decreasing shield recharge delay and increasing total shield strength. I'm less nervous about PT2 now, though I do worry the shield itself may not be enough for some enemies and I'll have some one hit deaths.
What is the Bee shield and where do you find it? Buffs guns? I saw somewhere else that this is an OP shield that lets you tear through the final boss with ease.

Spoiler tag it if it's part of a mission.

Tediore weapons are THE best. I've maxed out my slots with them. Nothing like having a virually unlimited supply of "grenades" in your arsenal! Key is to shoot ONCE, then toss the gun (reload) with a nearly full clip. Whatever the amount of bullets is left in the clip explodes on impact. (For example, if you have a gun that has a mag size of 50 and each bullet does 100 damage, your thrown "reloaded" gun would cause 4950 damage. [5000 - 50 for the first shot.]) Tired of not having elementals work on enemies? Thrown weapon multiplies the % chance by # of bullets. 16% chance X 30 ammo = virtually guaranteed fire/caustic/shock/etc.

Only thing that sucks is if you're a FPS veteran, it's hard to retrain your brain to NOT reload constantly! redface.gif

Just got a weapon drop on the way to the final battle I believe. Different color I've not seen in game yet - it's an alternate shade of purple or something. Anyway it's a shotgun that does like 3000 damage or something with chance to slag.

It's the item that mikepaul has been desperately searching for. It's a shield that adds something around 50,000 damage to every shot from any gun.

Wheeeeeeeee! Nothing like an item that sucks every ounce of challenge or fun out of the game! rolleyes.gif

Also, forgot to mention that farming is both counterproductive and a complete waste of time.

If you're trying for Eridium, I maxed out my purchases loooonnnnggg ago. I'm not even close to the end and have over 100 sitting in my inventory, totally worthless.

By counterproductive, I mean that if you're L20 and you're farming a L20 area or lower, by the time that you get the item you're seeking, you'll have a L20 gun and you will have leveled up to a higher level. That makes the gun worthless at that point AND you'll be fighting higher level enemies on the main quests. Pointless.

I have a couple of those as well. We were trying to figure out what they were the other day - it's like a pinkish/purple...at least in my color stupid spectrum. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be in between blue and purple or in between purple and orange gun.
Those are e-tech weapons.
So I'm at level 20 or so. Have had 1 orange SMG drop (already had a better purple smg though). Sanctuary just moved, we've done all the side quests up to that point. The bots were kinda iffy but critical shots this time around seem even more OP.
I know many say this game is harder than the 1st but my experience has been quite the opposite. I don't have as many powerful guns as I did in 1 either. I have a few decent guns and shield I got from Michael but overall nothing like the first. I also have a sniper from when I accidentally opened the golden chest at like level 10 and an smg from my GF accidentally opening it at level 12. Which reminds me.. For some reason she had a golden key. No idea where it came from. I was pissed when she opened the chest but I checked and I still had the 1 from the shift registration, not sure how that worked out...
I don't really see a point in keeping money, if you have it you might as well burn it all on the slots. Ammo is the only thing I've seen so far that's been worth buying and that's just so you don't have to open every little box or pile you see. Everything else in the machines is usually matched by simple drops. There have been a few decent class mods but nothing worth going crazy over.
Uhh as for farming the only thing I've seen worth the time would've been hitting Michael up repeatedly. Money is stupid easy to get with the amount of loot drops. Eridium comes easily enough from the slots or from drops or piles. We are at 20 and have the back pack maxed, 2 guns and the others are up a couple levels. Which also reminds me, I think there is a glitch for farming eridium. If you hit the slots up prior to purchasing any eridium upgrades I think the %'s go up drastically for it. I posted awhile back when we first hit the slots and we literally picked up 70-90 eridium in a matter of 30 minutes. It hasn't been anything like that since then but eridium still isn't hard to find.

Basically if I was playing with 2-3 other guys who play regularly I don't know that it would be any fun unless we were all split up. I would like to see something on 4 guys starting at level 1 and working together as much as possible to complete the game as fast as possible. I'm talking all split up, one back at the teleporter, one overlook, one running for the objective etc.. I think that would be pretty interesting to see.

Bl1's weapons may have been more powerful on the average but the enemies also seem to have been much harder. Dunno maybe we just happen to have the stars align everytime but I thought we'd have a much harder time. Still loving it though.

it drops during from an enemy during a short mission near the end of the game. There's a radio broadcaster Mordecai sends you after who drops it, but it's been really hard for some to get.

When you're fully shielded it makes the guns much more powerful, but your shield strength takes a big hit. I went from shields near 6000 to now 2000 with the Bee, and if I am to stay with it I won't be able to upgrade that number other than the small amount it may go up from mods or leveling. When I get hit, I lose that extra gun power and now have a shield that can be finished off more quickly. It's a risk and I foresee much frustration with bigger crowds.

It unbalances the weapons, but it's definitely not god-mode. At least not the level 28 version. I'd also feel worse if I didn't feel like the vast majority of my weapon drops have been weak powered weapons to begin with.

As for farming, farming the right boss can be productive. I've gotten most of my regular weapons for the endgame farming from Dukino's mom. I leveled up a fair amount doing it, but those blue and purple weapons (and occasional orange launcher) were still a ton better than what I received from other drops at my higher level. And if there's a specific orange weapon you want, if you're not lucky enough to get it on the one time you play the boss you're not likely to get it anywhere else.
