Hi All,

Am looking to purchase a 60 or more inch TV for my Family Room. Am not concerned on the money factor.

some points

- youtube(optional) as i can use laptop to connect and play
- 3D Optional
- Good Contrast Ratio
- Glare Factor(as i have a big sliding door beside my family room)
- Browsing ( if possible)
- Price incase of compromising on quality

have gone to bestbuy and found that panasonic has good models in 3d, where as samsung has reddish effects

Any Suggestions on which tv is best(or better)?

get the panny. 65VT30, if money is no concern. seems like an easy decision this is supposed to be the best of 2011.

I second this.

If you can wait until January the prices will drop. However, by doing this the chance you take is they will run out of them. This happened with the 65vt25 last year.

You can't go wrong with the top two Panasonics (VT30 and GT30) or Samsungs (D7000 and D8000).

The Panny VT30 or the Samsung D8000 are great TVs. But you mention glare factor with those windows. That might be an issue with Plasmas. LCD/LEDs might do quite well.

I would recommend you to take a look at Sony XBR-65HX929 . It is pricey however. Samsung UN65D8000 might be an option as well.

I recommend a Panasonic 50ST30 which is an incredible value for what you get. Probably the best bang for the buck on the market right now.

Excellent TV. Not as good as the VT series, but a stunning TV.

For patio I would get the LG 47LW5600 or 47LE8500 (reviewed here and here), and also recommend it for the bedroom. Excellent rating all around, and does 3D with passive glasses (no batteries). The 929 series from sony (reviewed here) as mentioned above are another step above those...

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine with the budget you have

But most of the current LCDs and LED LCDs are more reflective than the ST30/GT30/VT30/D6500/D7000/D8000 Plasmas. For an LCD or LED LCD to be less reflective than these Plasmas, it would have to have a matte screen but that is no longer the trend among the better LCDs.

The HX929 is also more reflective than the Plasmas, and IIRC the UND8000 is more reflective as well.

Probably True, I just saw those in showrooms and they all looked glossy to me. but this is based on my experience. I have both a 50'' Panny Plasma and 60'' Samsung LED TV. In my living room, the plasma washes out . I have it moved to bedroom and it works fine there. Granted that the plasma is 50px600u and the antireflective coatings have improved. The samsung is the newer LED D7000.

To my eyes, the LEDs look good when there is ambient light.
