Panasonic SC-HTB520 connection

Thread Starter
Hi there
I recently bought a panasonic SC-HTB520 sound bar.
I am having trouble connecting it with my TV. Soundbar has an HDMI input as well as Optical input. However my Philips LCD TV that is 3 years old has only has Digital Audio out (SPDIF) (I have attached a file with picture of what the TV outputs look like). Any suggestions on what cable or connectors can I use to connect these 2? I ordered one cable from amazon -

but this cable does not work for TV

I guess I need a coax audio to optical cable or coax audio to HDMI cable to connect these 2? any help or guidance highly appreciated on ways to connect or where to find such cables and if they exist
thanks a bunch !

You should find the information in the following link useful. Doesn't matter if your TV is a different model, the connection info applies to all.

What you didn't say is whether you use your TV's internal tuner or have components connected to the panel. Those are the only circumstances that you would need to use optical out.

The cable that you purchased is not the correct one. You need a coax to optical converter, a standard optical cable (not mini on one end), and a m/m 'coax' cable. A standard 75ohm 'video' cable will work for coax as well. Since you mentioned Amazon I'll link you to the converter.

I agree with device manager. I got one of those converters many yrs ago and it worked great.
