here is a cool article I found..

http://www.alexandermagazine.com/rec...q0104/bass.htm

It's a bit of reading, but it talks about subwoofers, and what type of content the normal songs have.

He is still thinking, talking, he is worried about speaker protection, as he has dogs, and small child..

Told him that we could face the speakers torwards the wall, but he is worried about shaking the drywall/sheetrock off of the walls. lol.

Any ideas?

Thanks, John, for posting up those spectral graphs of music. Makes me feel better about how the sound will be of my uber mains. Should be wicked!

np scott, 4 15's might be dissed by many, but not by me... :-)

if you want a rock concert in your room, something like that is what it takes...

Umm, he asked about downward firing, what's the benefit of those over other than built in protection?

No negatives and no positives. It works exactly the same. The only thing is you have to have clearance on the bottom.

"Umm, he asked about downward firing, what's the benefit of those over other than built in protection?"

it can create a little bit of a low pass filter depending on how much air cushion there is between the sub and the floor.

also, there are many options for protecting drivers.

just choose something that your buddy likes:

just curious if you decided to proceed to chose something else? :-)

It seems like he is going to go with your design there John, but its still fantasy until he gives me the real go ahead... I think we are going to go downward facing with the drivers, and face the ports at the lp.

I think he would benefit from room gain much more should we face the ports at the wall, but his concern is shaking the wall apart.. lol..

good luck with your project. not sure how the front firing ports would work in this application. post a build thread if you guys decide to proceed. i still think that just two drives and a good amp will slaughter his bose sub, but if he goes for four, how can that be argued with? :-)

Thanks again for all your help. If he decides to go with this, I definitely will be posting a tread.. I want my whole family (avs) taking the journey with me.

Did you have any internal bracing or sound influencing structures inside that box?

Thanks again..
