Canon Vixia HFM400 Output to monitor

Thread Starter
Hey, Gang, new member, first post, likely not the last. Trying to help the church (small one) record video using a Canon Vixia HFM400 and would like to mount the camera and monitor the image in a window on a computer monitor while recording.

My old Sony Handycam Hi8 made this easy but no firewire on the M400. what will be the best set-up with the choices of USB, AV, HDMI and Component outs for a 50 foot cable run to a Windows 7 PC? I prefer to not buy the wrong cable or video card set-up only to find it does not work well as the attics in Houston get hot in the summer time.

Thanks for your feedback,
Mike

This is a start for your research. You will need an adaptor for mini hdmi. Many ways to configure. You need to know exact length needed. Use a sting to route and then measure your sting.

If you are using 60i it will be easier to do. 60p has problems on long runs.

Trial & Error.

Either way, let us know the results.
