'Person Of Interest' on CBS HD - Page 38

Another great episode tonight. Lots of twists and turns. I did expect Beecher's outcome, but otherwise a great episode. Too bad there is no new episode next week.
Next new episode April 25 (3 weeks! eek.gif) then every week until season end (I believe it's May 23).

Well, just two weeks with repeats (April 11 & April 18), then three new episodes with Season Finale on May 9. May 23 is a repeat.

Loved the line about the unsocialized guard dog and Bear.

Me too. Thought that snide jab at Reese was perhaps the funniest line of the season and maybe the series.

Hate to say it but the show is getting a bit too complex. It's to the point where you need a scorecard to keep track of who is doing what. Now we get another bad guy who is high(er) up on the food chain in the group that was trying to hack the system. We have bad cops, bad Govt. agents, rouge computer experts all on top of the bad guy of the week. As it is going they are not going to have any time to take care of the POI, they will just be chasing the various groups after the computer.
Really ?
I was just saying to the wife about the various plot arcs were way cool . She agreed with me & when does that ever happen ?
Personally, the last uber bad guy behind the hacking was one arc too many. Besides, how could the Machine miss that threat? It's those kind of threats the Machine was built to detect.

Yep.

By my count there are 4 sub arcs in play right now. If you pushed hard, you might get 5 out of it. Elias and HR will always be sub arcs. Get used to it. Root and Shaw/government are arcs that could be resolved in a relatively short time, if the writers want to. The possible 5th arc is the reoccurring English gentleman who first showed up after the botched China mission where Reese and his partner were to kill each other, is working for the unknown power (it was always assumed China, but ...), but we aren't sure he isn't somehow, no matter how loosely tied, to Root. That is yet to be disclosed. I suspect the Shaw arc will resolve this season since her contract was only for this season. The English Gentleman will be around for a while I suspect as will Root, but I could see Root being wrapped up this season as well, but I don't think so. Too much to tie up in the amount of episodes left for the season

Now about this episode, I thought it was nice that Finch hired the POI for his computer company. Even though it was never specifically stated as such, but you got the feeling when Finch said he had heard of that company and had that small smile on his face when she said the name. Finch is a good man. As he told Shaw in the library, he hates to see good talent go to waste.

I also don't think Elias is as bad as he wants everyone to think. There is a good streak in him, even if he doesn't want to admit it himself. 99.9% of Finch and Reese's business doesn't affect Elias so he is willing to help and when it does, he is willing to give them slack because he knows they are not actively going after him, they are unknowingly falling into his area of influence. Big difference.

DAMN SPELL CHECK! Fixed it.

One thing I have been wondering. If the Machine is smart enough to use AI and to fix itself, now that it heard Finch say the virus is aimed at it, will it be smart enough and capable enough to "protect" itself and neutralize the threat. That could be a Season 3 arc.

To me it's obvious this is Root.  I could be wrong but the major sub-arc of this whole season is Root trying to get to the machine.  Most of the arcs all come back to this.  Even Shaw's arc now revolves around Root.  My wife is loving all the twists and turns and she said after watching this weeks episode that it's going to be one crazy finale.  I agree.

I'll say it is getting more confusing as the levels of conspiracy grows but i would rather that than have the POI format get stale.

I did notice one gaff when Beecher and the other cop were in the bathroom you could see the word men shown incorrectly, it was written forward instead of backwards as it should have been. When the other cop closed the door it appeared backward.

I disagree on a few points ;
the White Haired Guy is a arc that started the 1st season but we didn't see the WHG until this season (we 1st seen him in a flashback with Reese's old partner Stanton recovering from her wounds from being shot by Reese ) The WHG controlled the handler that sent Reese & Stanton , with Reese & his old partner being set-up with the laptop that had the virus in China . This arc is separate from the Root arc . Root wants control of the machine but for a different reason the WHG wants the Machine destroyed .
WHG does not know who Harold is ( he knows of him as Stanton was hired by somebody) & Root does know Harold & Reese .
Harold knows there is a ghost out there (WHG) who inflected the virus on the Machine .
At least that's how I see it .

The first look at the door was a mirror shot. No gaffe.

Ah, that explains it. Thanks for the clarification.

That was good. But this episode also provided: "so, you're not an IT guy." "Not in any traditional sense". Not sure which is better.

I thought root also wanted to destroy the machine. But him not knowing who Harold is does make it seem unlikely they are working together.

Enrico as Elias is just better and better. Any conversation between him and John must be the quietest, calmest, deadliest conversation ever.

Not sure how long this has been around, looks like it may have come out last season, but if you haven't seen it, it is interesting.

It is a little background on the machine. Runs about 3 minutes.

Not too much there, but was worth the 3 minute watch.

Why doesn't Jonathan Nolan have a British accent, but Christopher does?
A conjecture (or two) about how this season ends:

1) Whether he likes it or not, Harold will have to team up with #root to find and stop the virus plaguing the machine.

2) Bear will play a significant role in this, and may not survive (Yeah, i don't like that either)

3) Somehow, Leon Tao will be involved.

Root Vs. Shaw showdown, if they add a little Zoe better..

I think POI will be a good show to "mainline" on DVD over the summer to really see how the story arcs progress and cross.

You also have to do this with all of the other 'series' that have a continuing story line. There are too many weeks between many episodes, unless you have a high ability to remember all the details of all the series you are watching, it's almost impossible to keep track of everything.

Once Upon a Time is worse. wink.gif
