Any chance of a plot twist where they faked her death to get HR off her back or is she really off the show?

Remember they captured 95% of HR, 2-3 guys at large, specially Simmons, so faking her death would be pointless right now..

I wasn't going to read this one, of course, but the preview column showed the latest post and while I was scrolling I got spoiled. Lesson learned. Still sucks though. My heart was racing waiting for it to happen. I really really like Carter and the actress who plays her. Sorry, 'plot twist' ain't happening.

We should certainly know for sure next week.. when the Machine's thumbnail images in the opening credits sequence lists her as "Deceased" . . . frown.gif

I'll miss Carter but I'm glad Fusco survived. I find him an interesting character who now will probably get more screen time as he's the only cop resource within the group.

Vlad, yes that's what happened to me. frown.gif

WS65711... Good point. Will be watching for that for sure.

Also, someone earlier mentioned a family member who will stop watching because of this. See, I think because it elicted such a stron emotional reaction, that's GREAT writing! Why would anyone want to stop watching such a fantastic story, no matter what emotion it is that comes out. It's like I was discussing with a coworker about Downton Abbey:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Sybil's death, while terribly heart wrenching was written so well, but Matthew's was not. The latter angered me by the cheap way they wrote him out. THAT'S what makes me want to stop watching.

It sucks to the nth degree, but it is making a great story by the way we invest in it. And who knows, maybe we will see Carter again in a flashback, like the link on the previous page said.

The actress playing Carter was a guest on Letterman's "Late Show" last night. She mentioned preferring feature films rather than too-long TV series and knowing from the beginning she'd have a limited run. Brought along some photos of a cousin who'd helped to explore Antarctica early last century. Perhaps some linked interviews above mention this, too. -- John

Reading into an interview from EW, it looks like she did sign on to a limited role and this was planned for the character from the beginning. She said the shocking nature of how Carter would end up is what drew her to it. And now she wants to go back to theater for a spell.

Why in the world did they not call the FBI/Homeland security when they realized they were not going to make it to the drop off location? The FBI could of come in force and escorted them, etc. Then after they broke the phone, they got another one then locked up in the morgue like a block away, why didn't they call the FBI then? Why didn't Harold call the FBI for them, why didn't Carter call, they know her and would take her word for it. They already busted all the corrupt cops, its not lke they wouldn't beleive, plus they know Carter from her past dealings. Sorry, but that was really bad writting to ignore that and make the whole premise of them being "pinned down" as lame.

The whole Carter getting killed at the end seemed really rushed, almost like they forgot it.

On a plus side, John was cool being John again, especially in the morgue and how he calmly steps out and shoots one and steps away.

The previews for the next one really seem to show John as going all dark.

Maybe they didn't call Homeland Security because both Carter & Reese figured risking death was worth it to avoid all that TSA groping that HS loves to inflict on people.

Reminded me more of how I felt when Starbuck died on battlestar galactica
post #1634 of 2022
It would have seemed to me that given their mission, Carter would have been wearing a vest. The fact that she wasn't seemed a bit implausible.
Huh? It was the day after and she wasn't on the job hunting Simmons. Cops actually have lives.

i really liked the last episode. Can't decide which surprised more, the presentation of a romance developing between Reese and Carter or Carter's sudden death at the hands of Simmons. Either way, it was exciting, dumb but exciting. smile.gif More seriously, Person of Interest is a CBS show so a little over the top drama, even if it's a little dumb, comes with the territory.

I'll miss Carter .. really had grown to appreciate her character .. the love connection was a nice touch .. Reece at the cusp of a real relationship after the hard years before, his contemplation of suicide admission to Carter with the bullet .. things are going to get real interesting with Mr. Reece ..

PoI has had some great fall finales, and tonight's should be excellent as well.

And I'll make sure to avoid the HDTV Programming subforum until I've watched it, so it doesn't get spoiled like last week's ep biggrin.gif

Now that's the way to wrap up a story. The writers of that turd of an ending on the Mentalist need to watch this and see how it's done.

Couldn't agree more...a powerful episode from beginning to end.
The Johnny Cash song during the opening scenes was mesmerizing.

Are we to believe that The Machine recruited Root to help Harold and his merry band in the coming onslaught "of something really big?"

Loved the scene showing Shaws' "worst bedside manner in history" intern exit interview.

It was a prefect choice, but not as mesmerizing as the original video of the song with the dying Cash and his dying wife, June Carter Cash. Now that will rip your heart out and stomp on it. It's the only single DVD video I ever bought or considered buying...and it was very poorly recorded.

That was a really good episode. I loved how the team got to Quinn and took out the Russians. Root, Shaw and The Machine make quite a team. However, all the talk of "something really big" coming reminds me of "the coming Apocalypse" on Angel. Possibility for some interesting guest stars. (Nah, they'll never do it.)

What an awesome episode. You can tell a lot of thought went into this one with the opening scene, the flashback scenes with the major characters, and just how they ended the whole thing.

I was glad they didn't have John go ballastic as far as killing a bunch of people and Simmons too. That would have been too predictable and too cliche.
So was the first episode with no intro credits? I guess it was like those "24" silent countdowns when a major character died

Excellent episode, I couldn't expect better

So are you saying the Machine didn't display a thumbnail image showing Carter as "Deceased" (because there were no opening credits)?
We recorded the show but haven't watched it yet . . .

I found this episode to be fairly unsatisfying, I liked the Johnny Cash bit but it was all downhill from there, I definitely thought they should have went ballistic, I also could have done without the semi-cheesy "that was kinda hot" observation from Shaw after Root shot up those guys. The episode didn't really suck per se, but it could have been so much more.

For me a great beginning with the Johnny Cash song, a dip in the middle, and a great ending with Fusco taking care of business. Great scene with some very good dialog, especially when he talked about Carter... Remember Simmons fought John to a stand-still. Fusco is a tough guy, with one hand...

Also, Simmons was in good health when he tangled with John, still had that bullet in him when he fought with Fusco.
